Default Warner has anounced August Rush on Blu-ray but no HD-DVD!

From The Man Room

'August Rush' Coming to Blu-ray in March
January 17, 2008

Warner Home Video has announced August Rush, starring Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Robin Williams, Terrence Howard, and William Sadler, will be released March 11 on Blu-ray Disc.

Per Warner's pledge to release HD DVD versions of new titles between now and May slightly later than their Blu-ray counterparts, an HD DVD version has yet to be announced.

August Rush on Blu-ray will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless audio.

Special features will consist of alternate scenes only, presented in 480p video.

August Rush will carry an SRP of $35.99. We'll be sure to report on the HD DVD release date if/when it happens.

Unfortunately, this is coming out on both, with the 3 week delay. Not that this movie should have big impact, but just wanted to set the record straight.

The three week delay will have a significant effect on HD DVD sales for those titles. Releasing Day and Date with HD DVD takes advantage of the marketing for the product right before it is sold. Everyone wants to buy a title on the week of released. Afterward three weeks of release, 99% of the public either bought the movie or rented it.

This delay hit is a big hit to Dual Format Owner, who will probably buy the BluRay version of the movie since the HD DVD are delayed.

Yes it has, April 1st.

Of course this thread was started before the date was mentioned...
