Default XBox 360 1080P Problems

Downloaded the Fall update for my XBox 360 today which included the 1080P update, and lo and behold...it doesn't work. Actually, it only works with some TV's. I was disappointed and thought maybe it was just my display, but it's not. There are quite a few threads on the Official XBox 360 forums about this and people are not happy...

http://forums.xbox.com/7773891/ShowPost.aspx

The problem is, a lot of the new 1080p displays will not except 1080p via component. So I was thinking, O.K. no biggie, I'll just do VGA...nope, no dice. Not all VGA inputs accept sync on green, which is what the 360 requires.

So all the hooplah around 360 users being able to get 1080p with the HD-DVD add on, etc. only applies to those lucky few who actually happen to have a display that works with the current patch.

If MS would just release a dang HDMI adapter for 360, this wouldn't be a problem

There's supposed to be another update coming very soon to fix this problem.

(Man, this sound awfully familliar. Oh wait! That's the way it is for Toshiba HD-DVD owners!)

Pardon the moment of deja vu there...

The other issue here is the idea that this update was sent out to sabotage any modded Xbox360's.

If you have a modded 360, they were gunning for you.

Why they never bothered with a digital video output for a so-called next gen gaming console is truly beyond me.

them "supporting" 1080p over component gives .oooo1 % of their userbase an advantage. This was done just to look goof on paper. But the ps3 will actually support it in games, and via HDMI where it counts.

Exactly.. the HD-DVD add-on was just M$ propaganda... as usual...

What's funny is: Watching MS and HD-DVD acolytes talk out of both sides of their mouth...at the same time!

Somehow the PS3 isn't going to be that big a deal or important for BD but watch out boy!

This HD-DVD add on has been selling like hotcakes and Amazon and it's going to take over the world!

Is it going to come anywhere remotely close to the 400,000 PS3's that will be out there by year's end?

Probably won't ever see those kinds of numbers, let alone in two months.

Who the hell has a TV that has component or VGA that accepts 1080p for cryin' out loud?!

I normally don't buy into conspiracy theories, but I can't help but wonder if MS knew right out of the gate that this wasn't going to work with Sony 1080p TV's and they went ahead and released it "as is" anyways.

Maybe it's just me being paranoid, but I think in a way they were hoping this would make Sony look bad.

So they're either...

a) intentionally trying to make Sony look bad,
b) poor at QC'ing their patches, or
c) all of the above.

O.K. I am being paranoid, but it does makes you wonder...

M$ has never been supporting HD-DVD, all they want with their propaganda is to f*** up the PS3 and a bit of BD (royalties etc), but mostly the PS3. They know the PS3 is much more future proof and are terrified of it.

Humm problems with M$ Xbox360. No, never I can't believe it. M$ screwing up an update they rushed to get out, no couldn't happen. Wow I can't wait for this new Xbox360 add on, it is getting great reviews. Those reviews have been different from what I have head about. Black and greys issues, overheating. You know the saying though, the customer is always right. (Insert sarcastic voice over).

and PGR 3 sucks like S**T....

No wonder it can't be Gran Turismo 4 (and any other GT game). They should release Forza 2 asap. That it a more worthy competitor to the Gran Turismo series (esp. GT 5 for PS3) than this PGR 3 crap.

Too bad though that I may not be able to enjoy Forza 2 on 1080p all because Microsoft released a fu**ed-up patch.

MS, for the sake of us Sony TV owners, release a newer 1080p patch and DON'T SCREW UP THIS TIME!!!

Exactly right.

It's like I wrote in another thread one or two posts ago in my post history from this: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...7352#post27352

The FUD and propoganda campaign that MS has spearheaded against the PS3 is truly unprecedented.

Everyone knows it's a nuke the moment it hits the streets. Everyone, including MS and Toshiba.
