Godzilla vs. Kong: who will win? Who are you rooting for? - Blu-ray Forum

Alright, I thought I'd start a poll simply asking the ultimate question: who will win the big fight in Godzilla vs. Kong, but then I thought about it a bit and decided to add a second set of options for who you WANT to win, essentially combining them into one fan ultimate poll.

As for me:

Personally, I want Godzilla and predict Godzilla, though I could see it going either way and a part of me wouldn't MIND Kong winning. The reason I'd prefer and ultimately predict Godzilla to win, though is because Kong technically already beat Godzilla in their first bout (Toho themselves admitted this) and the fanboy in me would love to see Big G get his win back and it would make sense. Secondly, Kong is not given the moniker of King Kong, he's simply referred to as Kong as we all very much know. While this can be seen as them planning on having Godzilla pass the "King" title to Kong, it can also be seen as a damage control move on the part of Legendary in having him lose ("Kong losing to Big G won't hurt him, he's not KING Kong in this") while still distinguishing him from his original iteration (they never referred to him as KING Kong previously in the MonsterVerse, why start now?). Third, Kong got first billing in the original Godzilla-Kong movie (where he won, as stated) as it was titled King Kong vs. Godzilla; this time around, Godzilla has first billing (Godzilla vs. Kong, emphasis added on bolded). Hmm?

A part of me wouldn't mind seeing Kong win, though, just for the whole "underdog overcoming the odds" thing and showing that Godzilla's not invulnerable and can be beaten, but then again, they kinda already established that with the first Ghidorah fight in KotM (he got his ass handed to him and needed to go nuclear to beat him solo).

The way I would like for it to go down is: Godzilla beats Kong, then loses to

[Show spoiler]

just to show that vulnerable/beatable side of him. Then just as he's/it's about to kill the downed Godzilla, Kong comes back (perhaps after taking out a plethora of Skullcrawlers/Titans along the way) and saves the day (or vice versa after getting pwned in the solo fight). The two team up to beat him, then go their separate ways. So Godzilla wins the titular fight,

cashes the kaiju-sized check on his organic counterpart that everybody wants to see, Kong still goes out looking strong in the end, both kaiju get a nice sendoff, everybody walks out of the theater (whenever they open back up) happy.

There definitely won't be a definitive "winner". These Vs. movies never truly have that. I do think however that in a "real" fight that Kong would win if they were roughly the same size.

You need an option for Draw, then they team up to face off with the real enemy. Then a stare down and they go their separate ways.

I think the studio is going to cop out in the end. I think Godzilla is going to be the winner but I think only to the extent the ape will ultimately die in some sort of perceived, self-sacrificial way. But I could be totally wrong.

We've had 3 great recent Godzilla movies, possibly more if you liked the anime ones that I haven't seen.
