Default 5 min wait---Does that bother you.

Does it really bother you I would say 5 min for you Blu movies to actually start playing.

It doesn't bother me at all. I have the S300 and it takes awhile to get going but in the mean time while the player is booting up I am getting the the kids to settle down(they have no patience), I pop in the the movie while its loading ,the kids are still settling down while we get the snacks together and them the movie starts and its a Blu night.

It did bother me at first but i got use to it. Me not the kids or the wife.

With the others, I have a PS3... That's rather harsh though .

Would be nice if they could implement some of the Console tricks [Load in background while rendering 'simple' trailers, for instance]. Not sure how possible that is with the framework though so *shrug*.

I take it you are not talking about the player startup time, but you mean all the forced trailers/FBI warnings etc.?

It can be a pain but I think we have to accept that this is what the studios are going to want to give us. At least you have the search button or chapter skip.

I had my old Sony DVD player 'chipped' so I could put in a DVD and press the 'menu' button and it would skip by all the 'forced' stuff. Very nice.

I'm assuming you have the latest firmware? Nothing I have played takes over 2:30 to load.

I have a Sony S300 and it only takes about 45 seconds to power up, and then about 60-90 seconds to load a movie, depending on whether or not it is BD-J.

The PS3, on the other hand, loads movies "lickity split, which is even faster than a twinkling."

(No one's going to get that reference, but oh well.)

"I know that," said Grandfather, "it was a rhetorical question, you idiot!"

(Oh, and buy a PS3, so we can stop getting disgruntled-red-ant attempts to make the S300 look like "real" players...)

wow! I think Sony was right about losing money on the ps3. They put the best blu-ray drive out there in the console itself. Thanks Sony!

I have a PS3 and there is no difference in the load time from an SD DVD to a Blu Ray.

"Here is the story of Peter & the Wolf. Are you sitting comfortably?...WELL, ARE YOU????? Then, we'll begin."

(Although it's sad that technology has passed "Wendy" by, and modern synthesizers can sound like any normal instruments nowadays--
That "Switched-On" Carlos-Moog sound is now just a memory to us Tron and Clockwork Orange fans.)
