It isn't a great film, really. And I'm not sure that it would have been any better in the longer roadshow edition (unfortunately, none of the deleted footage seems to have survived). But----it's a film I quite enjoy, and does have some great sequences. I wouldn't mind seeing it in high definition at all!

I always liked the Cast Recording of the Broadway show with Barbara Harris. And even though I saw the movie in the theater when it debuted, I didn't much care for it even though I like Streisand. However, husband loves it, so I will give the film a second chance on Blu-ray.

The Broadway cast album with its cool blue cover is one awesome original cast album. What great music and orchestrations, some of the great songs were cut for this film, a shame, I would loved to have heard Baba singing the somgs. The movie is okay but what I love here is that not only is Paramount releasing those special sets, but could this be the opening up of the rest of their library? The thought is very exciting.

I don't know why they don't just press a couple thousand real blu-rays, but I don't mind a bd-r if it's my only option.

Great news. Visually this is a stunning movie. I only saw it once and it was a bit boring but I was much younger. Bought two dvd editions but did not watch them yet.
Hopefully a nice making of will be included?

This release has been changed to a pressed disc. The exception is if you order through Amazon as they burn their own copies through their CreateSpace service.

Thanks for the head's-up on this. I had no idea about the Amazon exception. So I made sure to return my order and bought a pressed disc from BullMoose. I agree with some of the other posts: It's a shame no effort was made to provide a restoration of this film. That said it is a step up from the DVD.

While I am glad (and shocked) to be getting Barbra's "All Night Long" on Blu-ray, it is unfathomable to think that is going to be a real Blu and this beautiful classic will be a BD-R. I'm happy to be getting this title at long last, but c'mon Paramount pony up the goods!!! (Now here is praying we get some good special features, at least, though at this point I'm not getting hopeful.)

I got my copy from BullMoose today and can verify it is a pressed disc in an official "Blu-ray Disc" case. I only had a chance to skip through it, but it's not a new transfer. It looks good, not great, probably the same as the transfer used for the DVD.

Great news for all these Paramount titles and they now become priorities for me. I guess it’s a similar situation with Warner Archive DVD sets that are initially pressed everywhere except at Amazon.

Recieved this today and I'm greatly disappointed. The same lousy DVD master made only slightly sharper. All the dirt and film defects are still there. Not worth the purchase. What ever you think of the film it deserves better than this. Even 3rd rate slasher films get a new scan and upgrade that is better than this. Pathetic.

I see what you are saying, yes it should have been remastered. We have had to wait so long for Paramount catalog titles so it is a shame. However, on my projector it does look like a decent step up in overall picture sharpness and better color, and the sound in lossless audio is a big difference, so while it is not all I was expecting, at least there are some improvements which will at least make for a slightly better video viewing when I watch it and I think the sound is where the bigger improvement is.

The choices of soundtrack are 5.1 and remastered mono, but when I select the mono, I still get a stereo soundtrack, in plain Ole dolby digital. There is no original mono track on my disc.

I'm new to this forum, i'm a bg Streisand fan and of course i have been waiting for ages for a bluray release of this movie. It looks like evryone is dissapointed with the quality, what a pity ! Is there any chance that you can show a screen shot in order to see it side to side with the DVD release that i already own ? I'm wondering if it's really worth buying thsi blu-ray if the quality is just slightly better. Thanks in advance !
