Default BD-ROM - what is going on?

Just got Spiderman 3 and Pirates (world;s end) - both take a very long time to load (get loading message from Pioneer player). Stop with resume does not work (it just stops) - Why are the studios doing this?

You're playing it on a BD-ROM drive, or are you just asking why they take a long time to load

Stop with resume doesn't work on BD-J titles, as playback is considerably more complicated and storing playback position (as was done in DVD players) doesn't function correctly.

BD-J titles, such as Pirate's (and possibly Spiderman... I don't know about that title) also take considerably longer to load, as Java assets have to be loaded prior to starting playback.

The PS3 is much faster than the current standalones as far as disc loading... though speeds on upcoming players should improve dramatically. For now, though... there's not really anything you can do.

No problem. Also, be on the lookout for BD-J titles to start featuring "bookmark" capabilities with greater frequency as a way around the "resume play" problem. Studios seem to know it's a feature people want, and it can be programmed in so that you can "bookmark" your position in the film, before you stop the disc, and then resume from that point when you're ready.
