Default Untitled NASA Film (Tom Cruise, and Elon Musk's Space X)

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: I’m hearing that Tom Cruise and Elon Musk’s Space X are working on a project with NASA that would be the first narrative feature film – an action adventure – to be shot in outer space. It’s not a Mission: Impossible film and no studio is in the mix at this stage but look for more news as I get it. But this is real, albeit in the early stages of liftoff. Source

Not surprised tbh.

Definitely hyped though... wonder who'll direct it.

I hope they hire a cutting edge director to do it, but it'll probably be either Kosinski or McQuarrie.

If there's an actor who'd go into space to make a movie, it's Tom Cruise. The guy is dedicated to his work without question.

There was always going to be that first film filmed in orbit. There was always going to be a 96% chance Cruise would be involved. The guy is incredibly dedicated to bring audiences the best experience.

However I am finding it hard to see what filming in actual space would bring to the table. The complications involved means you cant film elaborate action scenes and would it really be any more realistic than what we have in modern sci fi now? I could wholly believe Sandra Bullock was floating around inside a real space station.

Aside from the novelty factor of this I cant really see a need, But I am willing to find out.

Honestly I think the complications would make this look "faker" than today's CGI, ironically enough.

With the covid-19 virus spreading Cruise could end up coming back to earth and find that apes are in charge

I always thought it was funny when he appeared on Top Gear, he's done all those amazing things with NASCARs and fighter jets, Hammond and Clarkson had driven at incredible speeds, driven to the pole et cetera ... and little old James May was the only one who'd been to space.

Tom Cruise is not an actor who does his own stunts. He is a stuntman who does his own acting. And he's among the best in the business in both roles.

I can't wait to see what they do with this movie. I'm even looking forward to just the news reporting where we see Cruise on the rocket, the ISS, etc. I wish him safe voyages.

While I agree with you regarding Cruise I really cant see what he can do in this apart from float from one end of a cramped capsule to the other? To make this exciting in any way (which I assume they are trying to as it is being marketed as an action film) it will have to be heavily augmented with CG which begs the question whats the point?

I am probably overthinking it tbh. The film will be heavily marketed as the first film shot in space with Tom Cruise. It will get Bums. In. Seats.

Probably needs to get an upgrade to his Body Thetan now he's so powerful in the Church Of $cientology. He's probably hoping he doesn't bump into Xenu at some point whilst he's up there...
