Yeah hope this isn't one of those lets "skip" disc on this, streaming is enough. Perfect all is regionfree and many markets doing their own thing like italy and germany.

Well, sh!t. Literally just picked up the standard blu-ray set the other day after convincing myself that Sony would surely have released a 4K set already to tie in with the final film if they were ever going to. I’m a huge fan of the games and have only ever found the live-action films to be entertaining trash at best, so I’m not sure if it’s worth upgrading for me. But I’m excited for the prospect of upgrades for people who will buy them. And on that note, I scrubbed through Apocalypse the other night after hearing awful things about the transfer and you know what? Wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Still a dated transfer, sure, but I’ve seen worse. Curious to see if they’ll treat it right on the new set.

In the “Upgrade to 4K” section of my standard Blu-ray collection listing on this site, the last two Resident Evil movies are the last ones that need to be upgraded to existing 4K UHD editions, but I’ve been holding off on doing so, because I figured that it was just a matter of time until all six showed up in a complete 4K set.

I wonder how they’re going to handle the intentional face blur for Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil: Extinction for the 4K transfer.

Sony could do a rebuild in 4K for these if they see a financial reason to like Bad Boys 2.

They didn't do it for Underworld so I doubt they'll do it here. Sony seem to have cooled off doing these rebuilds in general, even their theatrical support of 4K finishes seemed to stutter a bit. It probably doesn't help that they sold off Colorworks to Deluxe so they no longer have an 'in house' facility to do this stuff at.
