Default FOX's "Fringe" Discussion (2008-2013)

Fringe is one of my favorite shows. The complete series is currently only $19.99 on Vudu. You can also watch it for free on imdb but there are ads and you never know how long they'll have the rights to it. 20 dollars is an incredible deal for this gem of a show. Just started rewatching it tonight. John Noble deserves all the awards for his portrayal of Walter Bishop. Anyone else rewatching the series?

I recently finished watching my Blu-ray set. It was the first time I had watched the series since it aired and I loved it just as much. How John Noble didn't even get an Emmy nomination is beyond me.

Along with Justified and The Shield, this is my favorite TV drama. (I can't pick which one I like best.)

I watched this at the time, but always found it lacking. The ideas in the show were all recycled material, and though much praised I quickly got tired of John Noble’s endless pained facial expressions and Vincent Price voice impersonation.

I found season one a little hard to take (mainly Noble playing the oblivious dolt with stupid disease unsafe insanity), but after that it was just awesome, especially as the mythos got stronger. It was so great seeing Leonard Nimoy show up as well, especially the animated episode...

I really want to sit down and binge the whole lot again, especially now as I have a great home cinema and all the extras like that lost episode too. I need to retire to make a dent... I need to stop starting any new series...

I finish re-watched the my entire BR collection a month ago (thas corona virus haha).
And i eas sorprice that there are people that didn't like the finale.
It is possible that when we watch everything together we see thing that when we watch a season per year we don't see, and that's the reason that a lot of people didn't like the finale?

I really need to rewatch this. I think its biggest mistake was casting Anna Torv in the lead role. I really don't rate her as an actress. The rest of the cast were great though.

Haven't watched the show in many years though so i'll definitely need to get on it again soon.

My all-time favorite science-fiction series. Such a great story. Alternate universes, good vs evil, etc. Ohhhh evil Olivia I screened it on Amazon Prime then immediately bought every season and got addicted to it, watching 2 episodes a night. The second season was amazing. I couldn't stop watching. Someone had recommended it to me but I finally decided to give it a chance after the series had ended. My mousepads are Fringe and I even have the Fringe theme as a ringtone on my phone. I almost bought a Massive Dynamic coffee mug, too.

The lore behind the show really attracted me, too. The images that they show at breaks are all mathematical relations. The frog, seahorse, etc. The relation to the Fibonacci sequence with the Greek letter phi on the back of the frog (one of my mousepads). Seahorses grow according to the Fibonacci sequence. Well, actually the Fibonacci sequence is all throughout nature. Trees, the veins in our bodies are all structured according to the Fibonacci sequence. The yellow dots in all of the images that they show are binary representations for hints at what is to come next. There was a website that was active during the series that used to provide hints, also. The URL was the Golden Number related to the Fibonacci sequence - 1.618033988749895... It went on for 50 digits so you were typing for awhile At the Fringe premiere in Hollywood, they also provided hints on the website for fans to track down items of interest around town.

Such great characters. Olivia, wicked pretty and tough. Cereal and scotch for dinner lol. Some people don't like her animated expressions but I think they are so sexy. Walter and Peter. Great characters. Astrid. Great support role. Leonard Nimoy as the interdimensional arch-villain. September! Need I mention September?? It was soooo funny that The Observers would tilt their heads like dogs when they didn't understand something and that's what
[Show spoiler]gave them away.
I was thinking of watching this again. Thanks for nudging me!

I agree with everything! And I think season 2 is my favorite, it had the perfect blend of everything that makes the show so great. I also thought the glyphs and secret messages were really neat. I remember I'd look up what it spelled out each episode back in the day when the show was first airing.

The only episode I don't like at all is the "lost" episode from Season One (it aired during Season Two). It should have stayed "lost". The other 99 episodes are very good at worst.

I truly love Fringe.

I know a couple of people who were really confused by that episode when watching it via streaming because
[Show spoiler]they didn't realize it was supposed to be a season one episode and Charlie is suddenly alive again.

A co-worker/fellow Fringe fan said the episode should have been called "Dead Man Walking".

Good one!

A major episode highlight for me was the episode Christopher Lloyd guest starred in, that was a fun one! And two of my favorite episodes of the entire series are White Tulip and Peter, they're both so well done.

For someone like me wanting to rewatch, where would be the best spot in s1 to watch that episode?

Stick it in at the end of Season 1 Disc 3.

Currently at Season 4 rewatching this great show. At $19.99, it's a steal for such a rewatchable, engaging TV show.

Fantastic show.
I have the whole set on dvd - Season by Season when they came out.
Pick up the complete series in iTunes last month for $19.99.
Totally worth it.
Just started a rewatch of the whole series.

Agree, Fringe is an amazing & trippy sci-fi series with alternate reality elements, that made it somewhat complex. You really had to pay attention to what was going on to follow the story - and I mean that as a compliment. Great casting as well.

I streamed it back in 2013, and really want to see it again. I may get the Blu set. I remember seeing DVD season sets @ Big Lots in the past five years (not recently, though), and kind of regret not getting them. However, I think the reason was because they never had the entire series there, so didn't want a piece-meal collection.
