I saw a demo of this at CES and it was amazing. Their newest version just came out. If you're a huge 3D fan like me, get in line and sign up to their newsletter. Read the article below. Their resolution is insane!

Technically, you're correct.
I'm assuming it'll be a matter of a few weeks. Matters not, I'm still drooling over the specs and possibilities. |

I'm wondering what is a better viewing experience.
VR - The screen remains static Cinera - The screen follows your head movement |

The Cinera Edge Pro for $499 is extremely enticing. However I cannot justify that amount into a product that hasn’t been released or tested. And there is the fact that none of these devices have ever been very well accepted. I do hope this is the one that is able to penetrate the market and create a new trend. It certainly looks amazing and the specs are ever better.

I pledged for the Edge Pro.
Looking at the spec sheet and the images, it appears that Cinera has done a thorough job of combining different ideas from all the different HMD's that have appeared over the last few years. They've borrowed the integrated headphone concept from Royole Moon, upgraded the screens to new generation OLED screens that support a wider color gamut (this may help eliminate banding and crushed blacks exhibited on the Royole Moon) and higher resolution, incorporated a surround sound headphone concept that is similar to the Psyko Audio gaming headphones, and adopted a much more lightweight design similar to the Luci Immers. I believe the goal of the first Cinera was to eliminate the screen door effect and introduce an IMAX Digital (AKA Liemax) theatrical experience that was lacking on previous HMD designs going back to the Sony HMZ models. In those two areas they succeed, but it resulted in a product that wasn't ideal for portable use and suffered from other issues, notably frame skipping that occurred when playing back 3-D Blu-Rays. It appears that it won't be supporting HDR. So the only attributes you will see when playing back UHD discs is the higher resolution and the wider color gamut. I'm hoping that this solves the frame skipping and motion issues that were exhibited during 3-D Blu-Ray playback on the first Cinera. If it does, I believe this has the potential to become an important product for 3-D fans whose choices so far have been to buy a used 3-D TV or buy a 3-D projector. Update: 07-07-20 I e-mailed Cinera. They confirmed that the Edge Pro has a newer HDMI interface, so 3-D Blu-Rays won't skip frames when played over HDMI. Interesting , but for that much money you would think it would come with a carrying case instead of a $30 add-on . I could understand the other stuff like HDMI cable mem card etc. as you might not need those.

The edge pro port is mini hdmi, I've been searching for a premium mini hdmi 3d/4k compatible longer than 6ft, if anybody comes across one please post here. an adapter from mini hdmi port to regular would also do but it has to be compatible with 3d/4k. I have a 50ft premium 4k hdr hdmi cable that I can use.

The Edge Pro has an micro-HDMI connector. Not mini.
Use an HDMI coupler to connect the 6 foot micro-HDMI to HDMI cable to your 50 foot premium cable. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2781 Last edited by revgen; 07-07-2020 at 07:44 PM. |

I'd love to try one of these, but I'm a little bit worried about how well it will work for someone wearing glasses. I was excited to see that they included a diopter adjustment for each eye, but then I took a look at my prescription. Both of my eyes fall just outside their adjustment range. I also have a correction for astigmatism. I e-mailed Cinera, and this was the response:
"We plan to release an accessory optical that can be attached to the lens to cater to broader vision conditions. If you are still interested you can back us now to get the best price and get the accessory later." I can use a PSVR headset with my glasses with no real issues. It's hard to tell from the pictures of the Cinera Edge if that would be an option though. |
