a lot of people liked this movie! it wasnt great, but the premise was good, the acting was good, and the ending was PHENOMENAL

I had mixed feelings about this movie. The first half was excellent but then it just lost it's momentum. I remember the whole theater groaning with disappointment near the end of the movie. How close did the movie follow the book?

i liked it too.. ending a bit too crazy for me but the general atmosfere in the movie was great

theres a different ending on dvd so hopefuly blu

I liked this one as well. Made me jump a bit a few times.

The European (Benelux region) release date for it is 01-22-08 and here is a site that sells it for 7 euros less then Amazon.de:

Which studio made 1408? After watching this at the theater, I was really looking forward to this on blu-ray but when it released on dvd I was disappointed that it wasn't on blu yet. But it will be someday

Great flick, can never go wrong with Cusack. I like both endings. Initially had a wtf moment because I didn't notice the directors cut was playing.

Unfortunately, it was released on DVD in the U.S. by The Weinstein Company which is still not a Blu-ray supporter just yet. So, your only option for now is to import it from Europe.

That is how I felt also, I like the whole first half or so and then it went a little overboard. I thought they could have made it better, a little scarier. I watched it with about 5 friends and when it was over we all kind of looked at eachother and were like..."what happened.....where are we" ? My initial re-action was that I wanted the last 2 hours of my life back
Love movies with Cusack though.....

does anybody know if this is region free? the wifey likes this movie. so i mst buy. i may wait a few more weeks to see if weistein makes an announcment, but if not i will have to order it. otherwise she'll buy the dvd

Interesting. I wasn't aware that it would be released that early in that region. I mean, the 22nd is only a couple days away. The BD version doesn't come out until the 2nd of June in Germany. That's a really long wait. Maybe the US version will be out by then. I'll still wait for the German one though...
