I'm in the UK.
I want to connect a blu ray player with only one HDMI Output into a TV and an Amplifier at the same time ..which HDMI Splitter should I buy ? Most seem to be multiple ins to one out .. I need the reverse. Am I just misunderstanding , or does the In/Out not make a difference ? ![]() |

i've had a couple, and they're not worth the bother. Too long winded to go into the various problems. What I did in the end was buy some short extension leads with HDMI sockets on one end, and use that to change the wiring configuration depending on if I'm using the surround sound or not. Had no problems doing it this way, and it saved me having to reach around the backs of everything, and risk damaging the units by pulling cables out repeatedly.

I used HDMI splitters for years and not had any problems. SI Parallel, what you are describing as seeing more often is an HDMI switch (allows you to switch which input goes out) and of course is not what you want. A simple 1 input, 2 output HMDI splitter is very inexpensive and I would try something from Amazon with good reviews.

For a 1080p Splitter you can take your pick around £20 (you can get a pretty fancy one for under £50). A Splitter sends a signal to multiple devices. A Switcher sends multiple signals to one device. |

Your player will default to whatever audio format it detects first if you have a splitter. So if you want surround sound make sure the amp is on first before turning on the player. The switchers i tried were all over the place trying to detect the incoming signal formats.
