Universal Studios Mamma Mia! 3

To the sheer delight of me and me only (actually I remember quite a bit of the lot on Bluray.com enjoyed the second film), Judy Craymer says Universal approached her earlier this year to begin writing the script and picking out songs for a third installment.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Craymer divulged: “I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with Covid fog, I think one day there will be another film, because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see. I know Universal would like me to do it.”

She also said she hopes ABBA will let them use the new songs they’re releasing as part of their virtual reunion concert later this year.

Mama Mia 3: We’re finally gonna dub Meryl Streep with someone who can sing.

As someone who loved the quirkiness and cheese from the first one, I found the second one pretty poor. In spite of the fact that the younger Donna could actually sing, unlike Streep. They abused the timeline more than the Terminator franchise so it will be interesting to see how they handle it in the third installment. Let’s see, mom was just a crazy kid when she had her daughter but mom and her boyfriends are all 60 which would make them 40 at the time. In the prequel she drops back to 20 but Grandma is only 10 years older than mom and thanks to some good plastic surgery looks younger than mom.

I liked the first, the cast for the 2nd was great... but it was just meh, like with My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. I don't see what the story could be for 3.

You must have gotten her mixed up with Pierce Brosnan.

I rented the first...thought it was flat-out garbage. Hated it. And I mean hated it. Blecch. And I even like Abba. In no mood for a second and third helping.

Mamma Mia! How Can I Resist You?
So excited!
I hope Meryl appears somehow, they could just tell us that the sequel was a dream & Donna never died for all I care
Maybe the third one will focus on Cher's character.

More news coming out of Cannes. This time it’s from Meryl.

Meetings are underway for Mamma Mia 3 and they are now trying to figure out how to incorporate Meryl back in full time. She admitted to Deadline that she now majorly regrets forcing the writers to kill Donna off in order for her to return for MM2.

They have ideas for her and she’s going to be hearing them in the coming weeks.

Tracey Ullman is, or was, a fair singer. She would fit right in.
