United Kingdom Deff.com

Didn't see a thread for this site.

I am in the US, and right now this seems like the best place to import films. They have a flat 7 pound shipping charge - no matter how many items I place in my cart. Compared to the alternatives (Amazon, Zavvi, even Base) this seems like a great savings. Plus, they have pretty low prices and they remove VAT.

Am planning to put in a large order with them, especially for the upcoming MoC releases. They do charge upfront and will only ship when order is complete, but I can live with that.

I checked some web reviews and they all seem positive toward deff.com

Any negative experience I should be aware of?

Thank you for listening.

Nothing but positive things to say about them, myself and I'm sure a few others too. You're right that they don't have their own thread; up to now they've tended to be a feature on movie threads where those titles have become hard to find just after release. I guess they're just bubbling under as these things go as a recognised brand name supplier, but they're getting there and thus far have been absolutely reliable and their packaging excellent.

I used them a week or two back.

A great price on something limited and I paid Ł1.04p for 24 hour delivery, which arrived (well protected, too!) in under 24 hours.

Fab!

Strange, the Delivery section on their site indicates shipping to the USA is Ł16.95

They're great, packaging and delivery times are top notch. Sure they're a bit more pricy on some items, but you know it will arrive undamaged.

When I check out, I get 2 options. 6.95 for standard shipping, and 16.95 for tracked. I am more than happy to save 10 pounds for non-tracking dispatch.

And the standard shipping cost remains at 6.95 no matter how many items are in your cart?

with the low shipping charge per order, I want to maximize the # of movies I can get without getting hit with duty/custom tax.

Do you know what the limit is?

My cart has about 130 pounds of movies (currency, not weight!). Would this incur a tax?

I think the US have over $200 before you get hit (I think it might have gone up recently), but hopefully someone from your side of the Atlantic can confirm.

Surely for Ł6.95 unlimited items they are going to use lots of those small cardboard envelopes like base.com do? Or would they put them in a box? At some point they’d have to cut corners...

There feedback says they pack really well and they tell me they also do as well, I have ordered and paid for a certain edition. The same edition i also have ordered from from zavvi i need to cancel.
I just dont trust zavvi with certain editions and you dont get the vat removed. As payments are up front at deff then i really dont need my zavvi order.
It will suck if deff says sorry could not get your copy and other places sold out.
Most of the reviews i read are from uk, but i like to know anyone who has had stuff sent overseas and received.
I have been told by a few on Facebook that they was very happy with there buys from deff, wrapped in bubble and in boxes not jiffy bags etc. Its just a shame deff dont have everything other retailers get.

As my paid order is not out for ages yet i been tempted to place an order but im worried they don't pack well etc. But from word of mouth and feedback i get does look good.

The thing is overseas purchases there is standard and tracking im just curious if there is a spend amount before it hits tracking only.

Anyone who ordered overseas did you go for standard or tracking? Non covid times you be pretty much no worry so much but as stuff takes longer its nice to see where its at and even if or when it comes to your door.
But its a bit expensive for the tracking compared to standard.

I would have a mix of heavy and small items and some ltd edition that i would not want damaged so im just not sure what end result would be when it shows up.
Are they good to deal with if any issues,im sick of zavvi on stuff i get from zavvi but are i beleive now getting better in packing or its just luck of the draw.

Well if I want to place an order of three id adds me "VAT Standard UK" which is 15% even though it's shipping to non UK. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes and the country (full address) is as well, the only button I see if "confirm order" so that's the final step?
