United Kingdom The Law & Order, One Chicago and FBI series

Haven't included Chicago Justice in the thread title as it was a short-lived series which was cancelled a few years ago. Also haven't included FBI spin-off Most Wanted, as (as far as I'm aware) it hasn't been acquired yet by a UK channel (but I'm hoping Sky acquire it as they already show FBI (the second season started on Sky Witness last Thursday night).

After reading the news in the Chicago Fire: Season Seven thread in the UK sub-forum yesterday or the day before, I checked Amazon UK to see if the most recent seasons of Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med were available to pre-order. They were, and I like the order they're being released in (not on the same day in September), in the order they originally aired in the States (Sky Witness did the same), Med, Fire then P.D.

Sky Witness were already showing Chicago Fire, but after Universal TV (previously Universal Channel) closed down. Sky (who are owned by Comcast, who also own NBC Universal) acquired some of the shows they showed, including Chicago Med. The big news for the fans at the time, was that Sky had acquired Chicago P.D., which had been with Channel 5 (shown on one of it's channels, 5USA). Meaning us UK fans would be able to see any crossover events in one go, instead of seeing each part at staggered times of the year.

Anyway, when I checked the front cover artwork for each of the three Chicago shows, I noticed Universal (UK) are using the second version of the promotional artwork for the most recent season. But I noticed two errors on the Amazon UK pre-order listing page for Chicago Med: Season Five. One, the show is no longer on Universal Channel (the first four seasons premiered in the UK on the channel, but the fifth season premiered on Sky Witness). So unless I'm wrong, that logo shouldn't be on there. Secondly, there were 20 episodes in the season (the same with Fire and P.D., not including the bonus crossover episodes). It states "Contains All 22 Episodes" in the product description.

The UK release dates (subject to change) for each of the Chicago shows (source: Amazon UK):

Chicago Med: Season Five - Monday 7th September, 2020
Chicago Fire: Season Eight - Monday 14th September, 2020
Chicago P.D.: Season Seven - Monday 21st September, 2020.

Below are the URL links for each of the Amazon UK pre-order listing pages, along with the front cover artwork for Chicago Med: Season Five, Chicago Fire: Season Eight and Chicago P.D.: Season Seven:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chicago-Med-Season-5-DVD/dp/B08CNNRPGN/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Chicago+Med&qid=15948 55309&s=dvd&sr=1-1

[Show spoiler]

Like with the seventh season, the eighth season of Chicago Fire is DVD-only again in the UK, but as has been said in the "Chicago Fire: Season Seven" thread in the UK sub-forum, Germany has come to the rescue with a Blu-ray release on Tuesday 20th October, 2020.

The URL link for the Amazon UK listing page for FBI: Season One, followed by the front cover artwork for the release:

The set had been stuck around £20 (rounded off). Recently the price dropped down to £12 (rounded off).

The second season started on Sky Witness last Thursday night, so it probably won't be until early next year when it's released on physical media DVD (and hopefully it includes the bonus FBI: Most Wanted crossover episode, even though I haven't seen any news yet about whether a UK channel is going to acquire the spin-off).

Have removed the UK flag icon from each of the first two posts of this thread, as while they're about the UK releases of the existing, three Chicago shows and FBI, I wanted the thread to be for the American releases as well.

If anyone reads about a release in the States of the second season of FBI, and the first season of the spin-off sub-titled Most Wanted, can they post about it in this thread please.

P.S: I'm not sure how to put the small-size version of the front cover artwork for the first seven seasons of Fire, the first six seasons of P.D., the first four seasons of Med, and the one season of Chicago Justice in the starter post.

Have read on Geektown that Sky Witness have acquired FBI's spin-off, sub-titled Most Wanted. It's due to start sometime in September, but if the channel do it right, it'll start during the same week that they show the 11th episode of FBI's second season (it started in the States on the same night that the 11th episode was originally shown on CBS). Both seasons should finish in December (maybe early January for the spin-off) if they show one episode per week (Sky Witness has been showing one new episode of FBI per week since the second season started), so hopefully the UK DVD releases happen early next year (January or February).

I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hoping the error with the TV channel logo in the bottom left-hand corner of Chicago Med: Season Five's front cover artwork (Universal Channel instead of Sky Witness) is corrected. It's still scheduled for release in the UK a week next Monday (7th September).

Would love to see Kino Lorber release the original Law & Order on Blu-ray or 4K, considering Peacock is missing the first 12 seasons.

United Kingdom Chicago P.D.: S10 and Chicago Med: S8 (UK DVD releases), and the FBI shows

My copy of the UK DVD release of Chicago P.D.: Season Ten arrived from HMV the weekend before last/the start of last week. Haven't inspected the discs yet, but I can confirm that the set is indeed an '18' certificate overall. And the BBFC listing for the TV series as a whole (all of the seasons to date compiled in one listing) was updated at the start of last week with the other nineteen episodes (previously, only three episodes had BBFC certificates (all given a '15' certificate). One episode has an '18' certificate, and (based on the episode synopsis, as I have to date only seen the first two episodes of the season) it's not the episode that I thought would get an '18' certificate ("Fight"). Instead it's the episode "You Only Die Twice".

On a separate note, the UK DVD release of Chicago Med: Season Eight isn't yet available for pre-order (it'll probably be in October if it's released in November).

Still no sign (and there probably won't be now) of a UK DVD release of FBI: Most Wanted: Season Three and FBI: International: Season One.

United Kingdom Chicago Med: Season Eight (UK DVD release)

Yesterday or the day before, discovered on HMV's website a DVD pre-order listing has been added for Chicago Med: Season Eight (finally). The release date is Monday 27th November, 2023.

Below is the HMV.com DVD pre-order listing page link:
https://hmv.com/store/film-tv/dvd/ch...d-season-eight

There is sort-of an Amazon UK pre-order listing page link for the UK DVD release, with the front and rear cover artwork. But it also looks like a listing page for another country's DVD release of Chicago Med's eighth season. Which is why for the time being I won't post the Amazon UK listing page link and front and rear cover artwork.

United Kingdom The FBI shows (three-part crossover event) on Sky Witness

The three-part crossover event that the FBI shows did earlier this year (around April time) gets it's UK TV premiere on Sky Witness a week on Thursday and Friday respectively:

Thursday 30th November:

2 am - 3 am: FBI: International episode "Imminent Threat, Part I" (premiere airing, repeated later at 9 pm - 10 pm)
3 am - 4 am: FBI episode "Imminent Threat, Part II" (premiere airing, repeated later at 10 pm - 11 pm)

Friday 1st December:

2 am - 3 am: FBI: Most Wanted episode "Imminent Threat, Part III" (premiere airing, repeated later at 9 pm - 10 pm).

*****

Still no change with regards to FBI: Most Wanted: Season Three and FBI: International: Season One getting DVD releases in the UK and Germany. Shall be interesting to see if FBI: Season Five gets a UK DVD release next year (have been keeping an eye on the BBFC website for FBI and FBI: Most Wanted).

USA Chicago Fire's milestone 250th episode

Chicago Fire's milestone 250th episode (called
[Show spoiler]"Inside Man")
premiered on NBC in the States last night. Have read a bit about the plot and it's been described as a
[Show spoiler]Die Hard-style episode.

During the past fortnight, have read on the web (after doing a web search for news on the One Chicago and FBI shows) that
[Show spoiler]actor Jesse Lee Soffer
is joining FBI: International for it's fourth season. However..sadly (and maybe it's because, while they're also made by Dick Wolf's production company, the FBI shows air on a rival US TV network) he won't be playing
[Show spoiler]his character from the One Chicago franchise (Jay Halstead).

Have read tonight on the Facebook page for the One Chicago shows that their new seasons will start on US TV on Wednesday, September 25th.

Physical media-wise, hopefully DVD pre-order listings will be up in the next few weeks for the UK DVD releases of Chicago Fire: Season Twelve and Chicago P.D.: Season Eleven (if it's like the last few years, they'll be released between weeks of one another between mid-August and mid-September).

USA Chicago Fire casting news

Have read on the web in the last couple of days that
[Show spoiler]actor Dermot Mulroney has been cast as Firehouse 51's new chief
in the new season of Chicago Fire (filming on it and Chicago P.D. started a week or two ago (as Chicago Med has scenes shot mainly on studio sets, it's season doesn't take as long to film, hence it being the last of the three One Chicago shows to start filming the next season (they start filming this week).

Now is the time to convert the SVU physical buyers to Blu-ray

Just do a boxset at this point... if they're going to use this as an excuse to say sales of SVU are too poor to warrant a boxset I'm gonna be pissed.

I guess this is the official L&O thread, or the closest thing we have to it.

Am I the only one who thought the 3/20/25 episode "Folk Hero" sucked?

[Show spoiler]I wasn't so much bothered by anything pre-8:57 PM, so much as I was bothered by it being open-ended.

Obviously it was based on the whole UnitedHealthcare thing. Considering it went to the point that the jury was standing there, they should've just ended it with a verdict. Obviously whichever way the gavel came down, it would've divided people, but literally ending with "We the jury find the defendant...EXECUTIVE PRODUCER DICK WOLF" was just a complete kick in the stones.

Instead of pissing off those who think Thompson's a victim and Mangione's a monster, or pissing off those who view Mangione as a hero and Thompson as (for lack of better words) deserving of his own murder, they effectively sidestepped the issue, and basically wasted a whole hour producing a story with no ending. It came off like a low-rent Picnic At Hanging Rock.

To add insult to injury, a good part of the episode got silenced on my TV by a storm warning that easily silenced 7-8 minutes of the show between 8:30 and 8:55. So I really got it in both ends with this one.
