Amazon's 'Invincible' Adds Zachary Quinto and Khary Payton to All-Star Voice Cast
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/am...q_mQHQ3fVyx1kg Springing forward from the Skybound superhero comic series from Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Amazon's animated Invincible adaptation has added two actors to its voice cast: The Walking Dead veteran Khary Payton (who plays King Ezekiel in the AMC zombie drama) and Star Trek veteran Zachary Quinto. The news was revealed by Kirkman over the weekend during the Skybound Xpo panel "Skybound: Past, Present, and Future." |

Robert Kirkman doing a superhero series? Ever since I heard about how he treated the co-creator for The Walking Dead, Tony Moore, I don't really follow his stuff. I thought the first season was okay but stopped watching after what AMC did to Frank Durabont.

Invincible is hands down one of the best, if not the best, comics I have ever read. I am really glad that the animated series so far is doing the comic book justice, I can't wait for new episodes next week. |

Also, regarding the numbering, I mean the paperback volume 3. This covers the first 13 issues. If you buy the hardcovers instead, one hardcover has the first three paperbacks. |

Watched the first 2 episodes so far. Hooked like crazy! Can't wait for more.
Also, I thought this was a mini series adapting a graphic novel kinda deal. But there's 25 volumes and season 1 will be up until around 3 or 4? Insane! This could be a legendary series in the making if the material is good enough. |

Yeah, you shouldn't need to read more than 2 hardcovers to be ahead of the first season. It probably won't get as far as the end of that.

I just watched the first episode of Invincible.
Let me say, I've never read the comic book, even though I was well aware of its existence and the acclaimed following it had. As a fan of superhero comics, by the time Invincible came around, I was already spent on the whole deconstruction approach to superheroes that became trendy ever since Watchmen. I mean, it's all been done before, right? And now with shows like The Boys, we're seeing it permeate the mainstream, basically supplanting the concept of traditional noble heroes in entertainment, and essentially mirroring our own real world. Understandable, since we're mostly all flawed beings living in cynical times. Anyway, I was going to dismiss this show, just as I had the comic, not because I didn't think it would be any good or that I wouldn't like it, but just because I've become jaded and really didn't want to invest time in another long running series, especially if it was something I had pretty much gotten already from other stories of its kind. But I gave in, having felt a bit disillusioned lately by the direction so many other comics, television, and movie franchises that I've loved have taken over the years. Now that I've cut a lot of the fat from my viewing schedule, I figured I should at least give the first episode a shot. I watched it with my teenage son and we both ended up loving it. The figure designs and animation reminds me of a lot of DC Animated Movies, but with better backgrounds. Though, the writing, direction, and voice work is a lot stronger than most of the animated movies we've seen in recent years from DC. And the end of that first episode... Wow, this is something that is deserving of its mature rating, as opposed to simply having a character flip the bird or use forced foul language just to appear hip and edgy. This show is hip and edgy and done skillfully. It may be premature to give so much praise after only one episode, and I hope I don't regret it later, but as of now, this hit the spot for me, so I will definitely continue watching with my son. |
