Almost Famous: UK BD = What Version? - Blu-ray Forum

I'm confused. Over at dvdactive, they have the UK BD of Almost Famous listed as an "Extended Edition", complete with cover art that would indicate the same. The thing is, I've asked Chris Gould over there to confirm if this is in fact the 162-minute "Bootleg Cut" version of the film, which is what I want. He doesn't know. The thing is, amazon.co.uk (where I preordered this from), has the title listed as 122 minutes in length, which is the theatrical running time. Here's that page:

Similarly, cameroncrowe.com goes out of their way to say that while the Japanese release will be the Bootleg Cut, the UK version will be the theatrical version. Here's that link:

It's under the January 1st update.

So does anyone know for SURE what version is being released in the UK??

Just a heads up... Amazon has updated their listing, and it now shows the run time at 162 minutes. Pre-ordered, and I can't wait!

Yeah, I saw that. Awesome! I can't wait, either. Screw Dreamworks. I'll have my Almost Famous Blu-ray Disc distributed by Sony. F 'em. lol

I love this movie. How much in U.S. dollars to buy and ship? Will it play on my PS3

yeah, it looks like both the UK and Japanese BD will be the extended cut. extras look slim, but this should hold us over until the eventual U.S. release...

I can't say for sure what it is in American money. I'd like to know this too as I was planning on a pre-order. Anyway to answer your other question, yes it will work just fine. Since these movies are high def, the NTSC/PAL issue isn't a factor anymore. That was a main problem for importing sd dvd's. As long as a movie is region free on Blu Ray it will play in any player.
