Canadian Blu Ray Release Info and News

Decided it might be good to have a thread dedicated to discussing any news or info we might come across regarding blu releases here in Canada.

UV is usually forthcoming about delays, or cancellations and YES is a good barometer for whats coming up.

Decided the deals section is a good place to put this as we often discuss any issues here.

So, if you’ve got the scoop or the skinny or whatever the kids are saying these days, share!

Some delays and cancellations:

The Flintstones: The Complete Series​ (Blu-ray) - Warner has moved the street date from October 13th to October 27th.

Monty Python’s Flying Circus: The Complete Series​ (Blu-ray) - Universal has moved the street date from November 10th to November 24th.

Friendsgiving (DVD & Blu-ray) - VVS Films has moved the street date from November 10th to November 24th.

Bill & Ted Face the Music (4K-UHD) - VVS Films has cancelled the release of this sku.

Mallrats (Ltd. Edition) (Blu-ray) - Unobstructed View has moved the release from Sept. 29th to October 13.

That is a shame that the 4K release for Bill and Ted was cancelled but that is probably because there is no US release for VVS to copy.

As a heads up, the combined efforts of Warner and Universal's physical media arm will be called Studio Distribution Services, or SDS for short.

Please note that our friends at SDS (Universal/Warner Bros./Paramount) are still dealing with numerous challenges in getting their product to their direct retail accounts and the distribution channel in Canada - which includes YES.

While we did receive our orders for The Marksman earlier this week, we have yet to receive The Mauritanian, Land, Pixies, and dozens of other Warner, Universal and Paramount releases slated for release on May 11th.

SDS continues to work with Technicolor Memphis on the many challenges they are experiencing and we will ship your product orders as soon as they arrive in our warehouse.
