Finally a new player!

IIRC, the BDA requires HDR10 for all licensed UHD Blu-ray players.

I really like the looks of this player and as a projector owner it should be fine. Also use standard EIA 19" racks so makes mounting this player easy.

The balanced analog outputs are nice. The remote doesn't look to be backlit.

Is the Denon DN-500BD MKII a clone of the predecessor to this Tascam?

While its awesome to see a new standalone region B 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player for the European market, since I live in the United States I will not be able to purchase one even if I wanted one, since it appears this Tascam model will not be offered in the USA or North America.

If you only want it for UHDs, the region won’t matter.

They have a Wikipedia entry. Some California outfit. So it better play The Beach Boys, or I'll be disappointed.

Given it's an American company stepping into the UHD game. I suppose Americans should take some comfort in this. Not exactly something you'd expect these days.

EDIT: this is their existing BD player - the MP1, not their new UHD-BD MP4.
