Hey guys i noticed about a week ago that the HDMI port on my samsung 32' LCD was loose ...i thought ....eehh normal for a heavy cable on it, but the other night it was extremely loose and now the picture went out ....i wiggled it and got a little response from the signal but not much ....i took the back panel off the TV to expose the circuit board...and i found that the small solder leads on the port were gone, lol WTF ...there are screw holes on the plastic to hold it yet SAMSUNG didnt feel the need to screw it to the mother boards ....WTF ..now i get no picture from HDMI..anyone else have this problem ??? ...I looked on the boards of other sites and there are a whole bunch of people with samsungs that have the same problem ...what should i do ..Bit*h and complain to SAMSUNG or find a local repair shop and trust them with my set
~no warranty ...the set is 2 year and 1 month old |

My older Samsung 32 inch had an hdmi problem as well. No audio, just video coming through. That was the LNR328W. When that happened it was still under warranty so they came and fixed it.
If its 2 years old and no warranty I'd find a local repair shop. You will have to pay to get it fixed. Unless its a widespread problem that Samsung acknowledges they you may be SOL. |

Sad to say, if your warranty's up, Samsung or any other company is not going to do anything for you.
The good news is that LCD tv's are relatively inexpensive to fix. I'd take it to a repair shop. Personally, when I noticed my Samsung LCD having problems (picture and sound cutting out on HDMI and then coming back) I went over to the store I bought the TV at (Ultimate Electronics, a regional store). They recommended a repair place for me. So my suggestion is to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. and ask where the best place to go for repairs would be. On a side note, a few weeks ago, I had Samsung come out and repair my TV. It didn't fix the problem. I contacted this other place (one that repairs multiple brands of TV) and they sent someone out this morning to take a look at it. I might be getting a new TV because it's still under warranty... |

Me neither... When I went to ask at Ultimate I made sure to talk to the manager. Also, the people there just seem a lot more knowledgable. When I asked, he gave me a sheet of paper that was pre-printed with their info on it. He told me that their store/company trusted them fully, and that I would be more likely to get a new TV than if I just went through Samsung.

This has been a serious concern for me on any hdmi port I have heard this on sony's samsung's and others. Point being I work for CC without an exstended warranty or under factory you are SOL. I wish to say other for you but no. The problem is hdmi cables pull on the port which slowly pulls on the board and from there the problem stems. Sorry for your problems not sure as to cost in fixing it but by now a new samsung cost 600-700 for a good one at 32" range.

Sorry I was not trying to make you feel bad but let you know that others have had this problem. As for a remedy and working in the biz I just try to not move the tv much and go about my business my hdmi ports are on the side of the set so gravity is against me.

Sorry about the soap box guys, but I'm angry FOR YOU! You spend good hard earned money for products that should work as advertised or at least should have a shelf life longer than a few months. I will Never. Ever, buy any Samsung product. This company is a disgrace. |

This is a very old forum I know, but I have one of those old Samsung LCD TV's and the same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago. I thought I just got a defective TV and have lived with the component video as I have not wanted to buy a new TV since I paid big bucks for this one and a 50'" DLP which I bought many years ago. I remembered when I took the backing off my LCD TV and found that the cheap solder broke and what a lame hook up Samsung did and even worse, I only had that one HDMI hook up on the TV. I could not believe that's how Samsung made those ports.
Well the reason I am posting about this now is that I am in the market for a new TV and am considering 3D since I just bought a Denon 1912 amp, not that I really need or want 3D TV now and I am willing to wait until Christmas 2011, but this is where my dilemma comes in, I moved and I have less room and I am not sure if I want to hook my bulky DLP that only has a DVI port which I have converted to HDMI and had to hook a separate audio, or does anyone know how much it would cost to have that broken port fixed and/or can I just super glue *laugh* the broken port in hopes that it will work and let me get bye for 6 months or more until 3D TV stops using glasses or at least gets cheaper. I was looking at the 55" LED 240Hz Samsung 3D ultra thin bezel, but I still can not bring myself to pay another $2700 for a TV( I paid $3000 each for my other two sets (when they first came out). I heard the bigger the better for viewing 3D so the 46" tv although cheaper has got me kind of nervous. Well anyways my real question is- Can I fix my LCD HDMI port cheap? I tried taking the back end off the TV and placing the HDMI port back, although it did work again for about 5 seconds it would not stick. Last edited by J2fold; 06-25-2011 at 11:12 PM. |
