Default Uncompressed PCM over wireless speakers?

I recently bought The Rock on bluray and had issues with the sound on my two rear wireless speakers..

I tried both dolby digital 5.1 and the uncompressed pcm 5.1. The uncompressed blew me away, sounded great, but i got no sound from my rear speakers...

Im using the ps3 as a player, and 5.1 DD audio works fine from the xmb and from dvds..

Was the signal too high for the Ir to transmit? I even stopped the movie halfway and calibrated the speakers to make sure they were all running fine..

my system is

thanks.

Optical connections only have the bandwidth for stereo over optical. You need an HDMI audio capable reciever to get any of the new audio formats

Wickywoo is correct. If you select the Dolby Digital tracks on your Blu-ray menus, your rear speakers should work okay.
