Welcome to the Forums!
The main difference is that 1.1 profile players have a secondary video and audio decoder to handle features like Picture-in-Picture (PiP). They also need to have a minimum 256MB of local storage. Also, this topic is discussed elsewhere in the forums, so feel free to search as there are other threads about this and other issues/questions. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray#Player_profiles for more info. Last edited by cartier; 01-24-2008 at 06:54 PM. |

I only have experience with the PS3 but it's a great blu-ray player and is upgradeable to BD-Live (it's currently profile 1.1/Bonus View). If you want a standalone, someone else will need to chime in on that.
If you do a little searching on the forums here, there are some threads discussing the pros/cons of the PS3 vs standalones and probably some on which standalone is recommended (if you want to go that route). |
