Yep. It’s an amazing game and the boost to 60 FPS is particularly nice in that game. Need top lay more of Legends mode (just went through the first set of story missions once. Don’t have it in me to do a full replay since I spent time doing everything and getting the platinum on PS4 Pro.
Best thing about PS5 and XSX so far is the better versions of last gen games via BC. None of the next gen exclusives so far have really been to my taste (well Astro was good, but super short to platinum), and even of the cross gen stuff only Miles Morales appealed to me. So I’ve mostly been enjoying last gen games that run and look amazing on both new consoles. Monster Hunter World Iceborne has been getting most of my PS5 time the past couple of weeks. |

Is the Ghost Tsushima open world fun to explore for those who like to explore new worlds? I was watching videos of this game and the map seemed bland and uneventful for the forest areas. I'm still going to give the game a try when it's 19.99, but 59.99 at the moment.
Sucker Punch also made the Infamous games of which I bought both, and both I'll admit are just okay IMO the way they designed the game play and upgrading. Some great ideas, but boring game play after awhile with a lot of repetition. Actually, that's true of many open world games. With the current exception of a few games, Days Gone PS4 on PS5 (which also looks amazing) and the very fun Fenyx Rising on PS5. |

I would say so as I liked it a lot and I'm a person who doesn't much care for exploring open worlds. The world is really beautiful, it's a lot less packed with objective marker clutter and menial tasks than say a Ubisoft game, and the menial things that do repeat a lot like following the foxes to dens, finding Haiku spots and making a haiku was enjoyable enough to me that I got the platinum. Which I've never done in any other open world game.

The Last of Us 2 has still yet to receive a PS5 update. Ghost of Tsushima has. Ghost of Tsushima now runs 4k/60fps on PS5. That alone makes a huge difference! The Last of US 2 currently runs on PS5 the same way as on PS4 Pro, 4k/30fps. I really don't know what else Sucker Punch could do to GOT to make it any better looking or running.

What's your point? Plus you're omitting the framerate bump, which...like I said...makes a huge difference.

It runs great as is, but I side with the notion that any game that could get a native PS5 version probably should, especially seeing as how much better Microsoft backward compatibility is without even needing a 'native' game version.

Specifically, what more could Sucker Punch do with the game without it being a complete remake?

Ghosts of Tsushima and Days Gone are the two PS4 games that I feel absolutely must be played/replayed on PS5. The upgrades really are transformative. It looks like God of War is likely added to the list but I haven't had a chance to play much of that one.
Oddly, even though it clearly runs better, I actually found that Until Dawn was a worse experience on PS5. Maybe because it feels more like a movie than a game, but the increase in frames made it less immersive. It's really rare for this to happen in a game but it's almost like the soap opera effect on TVs when you turn on smoothing or watch something in HFR. Made the game feel even more hokey to me. Anyway, I really hope Naught Dog gets around to updating their games sooner than later. Whether it's any of the TLOU or Uncharted titles I'm not interested in a paid "remaster" when a simple update to unlock the framerate would suffice. Also, regarding the above conversation, the updates are an upgrade. What's the point of the argument? Days Gone and Tsushima are objectively better experiences on PS5 than on PS4. Hopefully we'll be able to say the same about Naughty Dog games soon, as well. |

Yeah I don’t think many last gen games need upgrades, updates are fine. They just need resolution bumps and FPS bumped to 60. Games that have gotten updates like Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 etc look and run amazing and look as good or better than the few next gen only games like Demon’s Souls or the next gen versions cross gen versions of things like Miles Morales or AC Valhala IMO. The Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC is the best looking thing I’ve played so far.
People expecting to blown away by graphics leaps this generation are likely going to come away disappointed. Higher resolutions at higher frame rates will be the main boosts even fir next gen exclusive games. Character and environmental models and textures aren’t going to improve much from the beer looking last gen games like TLOU2. There’s only so many polygons they can add to make things more realistic looking, especially with higher frame rates and things like ray tracing eating up the added power of the next gen consoles. |

PS4 graphics tend to hit the ball out of the park with games like Days Gone, Last of Us 2, Uncharted 4, etc., so there's not much room for graphical improvements other than textures and resolution.
PS4 is a graphically powerful console for 2013, but running those graphics is the challenge it faces compared to PS5. As far as upgrade vs update, an upgrade would be a substantial improvement in terms of graphics with stronger textures if they were lacking, and a lot more enemies, people, characters onscreen in a game. Traffic, stuff like that depending. Relating to the upgrade of Cyberpunk on PS5 which will hopefully be better than the PS4 version on PS5. By a lot I hope. |
