Ok trying to figure out goal of this thread. Some of what is listed has littlle to do with Romero out side of being zombie movies ( Zombie 4 & 5 ). Love Romero's zombie films so just want some clarification.

Zombie (Zombi 2) is a unofficial sequel to Dawn of the Dead, so it and its followers are related.

Return of the Living Dead was also supposed to be a semi-sequel to Night of the Living Dead.

May I suggest adding some of the documentaries available on Blu-ray such as Document of the Dead and Reflections of the Living Dead.
Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead sort of fits in the remake/spin off category.

Zombie 4 & 5 got lumped in as they are Italian however they have nothing to do with Fulci' s take on Roméo type zombies. Huge zombie fan and collector. Just want to be clear on thread focus and those 2 titles don't really fit.

I get what you mean. I wouldn't go as far as calling Witchery or Ghosthouse sequels to Evil Dead either but I don't really see a problem in including the full Zombi series in this thread just for completism sake.

It's not my thread though.

The Zombi series doesn't really exist as the movies were never meant to be a series. Not my thread either. I'm still not very sure on the point or focus of this thread.

Wow, that is some terrible animation! It's like those reconstructions of lost Doctor Who episodes, but cheap.

I'd much rather watch this version:

Great idea for a thread. Why didn't I think of it?

Don't forget to add the region B box-sets.

Romero didn't actually use the term zombies, did he?
That was the Italians confused translation and re-titling.
Please consider LIVING DEAD in the title instead of zombies.

Peter uses the term "Zombies" in Dawn of the Dead when the bikers raid the mall.

So all these years later, how are we all feeling about Diary and Survival these days?

And what about the various remakes and odd spinoffs - anyone have any personal diamonds amongst the rough there that they wanna share? Obviously everyone's talked at length about the Night and Dawn remakes, but what about the various detritus that followed?

I'll start the ball rolling - the Day of the Dead remake from '08 is real terrible stuff, but it's the kind of terrible that I can get a real chuckle out of with a solid bit of whiskey to the side.

Anyone else?

I've always had a soft spot for Survival of the Dead since day one. The only "new" zombie movie that I absolutely love is Planet Terror and that one is from 2007 - already 14 years old!!

I honestly like Diary quite a bit. Not some legendary addition to the canon, but enjoyable enough. Survival, on the other hand, is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Not just out of zombie movies, but movie movies.

Romero could've went out on a better note than Survival of the Dead, but at least Diary of the Dead wasn't his final movie.

That's how I feel about Bruiser. The only Romero movie I genuinely dislike. Diary is totally fine. Nothing great, but also not terrible.

Diary and Survival are both hit or miss for me - there are little sparks here and there in both of them where I see what could be a good idea, or a suspenseful moment, but then before you know it Romero's moved on to something that doesn't land.

I'll say this for both of them, though - they're nothing if not interesting in terms of their setups.

Any reason why the Scream Factory edition of ROTLD isn't included? It is a North American release, after all...

It's OOP and getting pretty expensive would be my guess.
