Remember going to the videostore back in 1995 and seeing that cool lenticular cover art on the shelf? The one where a slight change in angle would turn man to beast right in front of your very eyes? If you were anything like me you eagerly grabbed the box and brought it to the check out line, where it was replaced with the actual VHS tape. Then you went home and witnessed something really special: a werewolf driving a car! Seriously, why does this Tony Zarindast gem not have a blu-ray release by now? It made it to DVD, VHS, and Laserdisc! Shout! Factory, are you reading this?

Was honestly expecting someone like Vinegar Syndrome to try this film, and do a lenticular slip like they did for Jack Frost. I talked to someone who was on production, they had a ton of weird stories from it. If anyone does a Blu-ray I'd hope they'd get them for a interview.

![]() I can't even find the convo I had with him, but here's a few comments shared by Brad Hornbacher in a general MST fanpage. "...this was originally written as "An American Werewolf in Russia" and was fully financed and ready to be shot over there when a week before we left, there was a Russian Coup, and everything went to sh#t in one day. We had to regroup and I had to rewrite it for america." "...on the infamous "Werewolf drives the car" scene. I wrote this shortly after Tony Zarindast told me I HAD to have the Werewolf drive a car. He SERIOUSLY thought that would be a suspenseful, hitchcockian part of the movie! Well, we all know how that turned out...." "when I saw the first screening I was baffled by a lot of the actors interpretation of the dialogue I wrote, but the sh#t was HA HA funny!" "This film has absolutely nothing to do with real Werewolf legend or logic. When I originally wrote the first draft it made sense and had cohesion, but after Tony gave me rewrite notes, all of that went out the window!" |

![]() [Show spoiler] That's too bad. I was really bummed after watching it the first time. And probably the second; trying to work out whether it was really that bad. I remember it being worse. |
