Maybe you're not aware that actors and professionals on TV and movies wear make-up during shoots. If you the ad it says the "Blu_ray" make up is for hi-definition shooting.

It's not so curious once you consider hi-def captures more detail in a persons face.

Looking at the site, though, it looks like they're really just infringing the "Blu-ray" copyright and trying to claim "blu_ray" (note the underscore instead of the hyphen and the lowercase b) as their own trademark. I'm not sure if we should offer them a sponsorship or pass the info on to the BDA for potential litigation.

I watched Sunshine not long ago, and I was amazed at the "quality" of video showing all the skin imperfections of the actors ... maybe Blu-ray coametics will help hide these ...

How we know who's really won the format war: The Blu-ray makeup line
Posted by Caroline McCarthy | 5 comments
(Credit: Cargo Cosmetics)

HD DVD, just in case you didn't get the word, you're toast. The cosmetics industry says so, and would like to blow you a high-definition kiss goodbye. Mwah.

Well, sort of. Cargo Cosmetics has launched a new line called Blu_ray, designed for makeup artists who need to adapt to high-definition cameras. Design blog Notcot notes that it's marketed toward filming, photography, bridal makeup jobs, and other occurrences where high technology means that the camera really doesn't lie--those HD cameras can highlight any flaw.

In case you were wondering, it's able to skirt copyright regulations by calling itself Blu_ray

There was already a News article on this very site.

Offbeat: Blu-ray Inspired Cosmetics
Posted January 24, 2008 by Josh

This is a bit different than the news we typically cover, but cosmetics company Cargo has released a "blu_ray" cosmetics line. Labeled as "high definition make-up", it is designed for make-up artists who are filming in high definition. Besides the name similarities, packaging designs are also very similar, and it is difficult to miss the obvious connection.

As far as I'm concerned, that's the first and last time we'll need to discuss blu_ray cosmetics on this website, but we would be doing a disservice to our female readers if we didn't at least point you to the website.

Thanks goes out to HighDefChief for the news tip.

It's kind of cheesy, but it adds some insult to injury so I'm all for it.
