Exclamation LG 2021 C1 Series OLED TV

Surprise allocation of LG's new 2021 77" C1 just arrived and ready to ship today!

Free PL5 wireless speaker w/any C1 purchase. Mail-in rebate.

I'll be testing and evaluating LG's 77" C1 and comparing it to Sony's A80J and A90J and report on this thread our findings.

Just got the 55" OLEDC1. It's nice to have full HDMI 2.1 with my RTX 3090. I loved my C7, and happy to have OLED again.

Secret LG C1 "Hack" to Unlock G1 OLED Evo Brightness - Should You Do It?

Quote:
We discuss LG's official response to the now-public discovery that C1 OLED TVs with the latest panel from Guangzhou can be unlocked to deliver similar HDR peak brightness to the more expensive LG G1 with OLED Evo technology, simply by changing an adjustable field in the service menu.

Because we think the negatives outweigh the gains, we are not going to link to any sources that describe this service menu "hack".

Just picked up a 77C1 from Video Only in the Seattle area. Pretty great price if you happen to be in the area.

Curious, in the US is the 83" LG C1 more expensive than the 83" Sony A90J? That's the case here in Canada as I just checked Best Buy. Very strange that LG would price an equivalent sized tv more than the flagship from another OLED brand. I don't think that has ever happened before.

Exclamation LG C1 65" for $1799?

Is this a good price for the C1? Best Buy has it on sale and it shows $700 off MSRP for $2500. Or should I wait for Black Friday for a potential better price? I've been contemplating this a few days and don't want to miss the deal. Thanks everyone!

I've been eyeing the LG 83" OLED and that's a beautiful TV with a beautiful price too. I'm not going to buy it right now because I bought my 65" OLED just three years ago, and it's not time for new one yet. I'll wait a year or two when the price goes down, then I'll consider getting the 83".

FOMO "crystal ball" says the LG C1 83" could be as low as $4000 by 2022 Black Friday.

If you had to pick only one, and they were the same price, which would you choose and why?

77" C1
77" GX

At the very same price, I'd probably go with the GX purely for cosmetic reasons (if you wall mount that is), though I've compared on Rtings, while both are similar, they say the GX has a very slight edge in HDR performance and the C1 has more colour volume and updated gaming performance. They also say the GX has better out of the box accuracy, though and irrelevance if you get it calibrated.

We're into tiny real-world differences mind! Which is why for me the cosmetic angle wins.
