It's no secret that Warner Bros. has the biggest catalogue of titles with MGM (now distributed by Fox). If anyone was wondering how its really effects the format war. Check out your own titles and list down what are your top 3 studios for both your DVD and BR discs.
Although I have had only blu-ray for 2 weeks now and only have a couple films, I noticed that all my movies for BR (except for Spiderman 3 that came with my ps3) are from Warner up to now. Phantom of the Opera 300 Harry Potter : Order of the Phoenix I'm going movie shopping today and Superman Returns as well as Troy is on my list for today...oh look...happens to be WB again. The biggest catalogue holder exclusive? You damn right its death to HD-DVD. Even in my standard DVD collection, Warner Bros. films seems to be present at around 20% (for that studio alone). |

I have noticed the same thing with my collection, most of my BR movies are WB. But the great thing is before i sold off most of my HDDVD's i counted how many i had and i think it was 16. Out of that 16 id say about 13 were all titles from warner bros. I wonder how HDDVD is going to survive with only the releases from para and uni.

For my Blu-rays the top studio is Fox, followed closely by Sony Pictures... Then Warner. Anyways, yes Warner has a LOT of great titles.

yeah, that's really going to hurt. Probably have to wait a month now for new releases to come down in price as well. Oh well, this is what we asked for, right?

I think that catalog titles and new release from all the Blu studio will help win the war.
If you look at the movies that are coming out this year most of them a exclusively Blu along with all the catalog titles you have to by CRAZY to even go near a HDDVD player. |

I honestly had no idea that there was a so called war between HD DVD and Blu-Ray. Sure I knew they were competing formats, but I didn't know until recently the extent of the battle. If you want to call it that, Blu-ray is obviously dominating. And for good reason, because the quality is far superior to that of HD DVD. i just got my Blu-ray player a few weeks ago and already have 25 movies and more on the way. It's an addiction I swear. I only have a 720p TV for now, but still the quality is stunning. And yes I must agree that Warner going exclusively with Blu basically means the beginning of the end for HD DVD. Taht's a huge share of the market, not to mention it's going to sway other production studios to do the same.

Yes Warner has a nice catalogue but I'm waiting for MGM to get in gear and start releasing again. Warner ranks about three in my own collection.

MGM has an Awesome/Extensive catalog. We are going to be getting some really nice titles for Father's Day. MGM has a low market share (current). Thus, it does not have the resources of the large studios. In six months, the penetration of blu-ray into the mainstream will allow MGM to start releasing catalog titles. Just can't wait for that.

Out of my BR collection the dominant studio is Disney! Followed by WB and FOX.
