Single three-frequency laser diode and single multifocus lens. This is an extremely advanced and cost effective technology. When I saw these photographs first, I feel it's almost incredible. Awesome SONY.

That's pretty impressive. It's completely understandable why they won't have as many systems out on the market as they wanted to. This is cutting edge technology, folks. Sony's Computer Entertainment division definitely knows what they're doing. Nice job, Sony!

ahhhh....so what does one laser one lens mean?

for playing multiple formats. DVD laser is different from cd, just like blu ray is different from DVD. There was talk that the ps3 would havr to incorporate multiple laser diodes to read dvd's
