Dragon Quest 12: Flames of Fate

Little known at the present time other than some kind of update to combat.

I mean, it will, because thats just what dragon quest is like. They're all super long and grindy RPG's.

11 was great though. Looking forward to this one.

I did not play 10, but from the others, 7 and 11 are the only ones that last 100 hours, which takes me months. The others were more manageable.

It was great I just have less time for games like that these days I guess.

Its only been really been the rep of the series since VII. The earlier games weren’t that long. I played the original version of V again last year for the first time in 14 years, so I’d forgotten a lot to the point it was like a first time playthrough, and it didn’t take more than 40 hours to complete (and I’m a thorough explorer and time taker on top of that.) Ditto IV, which I replayed a couple months back - no more than the 40-50 range.

But I don’t mind XI’s length. I’ve played through it several times! (I don’t play too many new games though, for what it’s worth.)

Tagging XII as taking a more “adult” approach - let’s not forget the mascot of this series is a blue blob with a goofy smiley face. One of the great things about DQ is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
