Default The Walking Dead (Season 10) - July 20, 2021

https://bleedingcool.com/tv/the-walk...y-s11-preview/

Quote:
With AMC's The Walking Dead currently in production ahead of the August 22 premiere of the long-running series' 11th and final season, the fine folks at Lionsgate are giving you a chance to get caught up on a Season 1o that was unlike any season before it on so many levels. Starting July 20, The Walking Dead Season 10 will be available on Blu-ray (plus Digital) and DVD- a season that saw The Whisperer War rage across the season's first 16 episodes. We said goodbye (for now) to Danai Gurira's Michonne and welcomed back Maggie (Lauren Cohan) as our heroes faced the greatest threat ever to their very existence.

In addition, both sets contain "Season 10c"- the six additional episodes produced to not just serve as closure to the season but also set the foundation for the series' final run- and offer viewers a look at Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in "Here's Negan." The Walking Dead Season 10 Blu-ray and DVD will be available for the price of $80.99 for Blu-ray + Digital and $70.98 for DVD- with special features including an "In Memoriam" feature as well as audio commentaries

I tuned out around Season 8 (I think) but I was already beginning to lose interest around S6. Of course I'll grab S10 just because it's The Walking Dead. Not sorry to see the series end next year. Maybe I'll tune in to see it off but all I want to know is how the whole thing got started. And, IIRC, that is never touched upon in the comics and I don't expect it will be here.

I know Michonne was barely in season 10 but that image of her on the front cover isn't the look she was sporting during season 10. That looks like Michonne's style from 2-3 seasons ago. All around just lazy front cover art. It's too bad Target stopped releasing this series on Steelbook. Those steelbooks were awesome.

Lazy?

It’s a million times better than Season 10’s other posters:

I don't care about the cover. Season 10 is finally making its way to Blu-ray. That's all I care about. Everything else is just noise.

Was anyone else disappointed that they stopped shooting on film for the Season 10 Bonus episodes? For me it was always key to the look and feel of the series, and the digital-looking episodes were apparent to me immediately and gave a completely different feel to the show - a sense of cheapness. It also just looks like every other show now. I am unclear if the final season is continuing the digital route, but it would be a real shame to not have that cohesiveness present in the entire story (for those of us that have the Blu-rays of every season, to rewatch one day).

I hate it, but it’s continuing through the final season because moving away from film cuts down on coronavirus contact points. I get it, but it SUCKS.

I honestly preferred it being shot digitally. Everything looked cleaner and higher quality to me.

Yeah, it sucks. Angela Kang explained the switch to digital was a COVID thing as shooting digitally had less contact/touch points as shooting of film had.

It definitely does lose its filmic grain and grittiness, while the digitally sharpened crisp imagery brings about the low budgetary cheapness.

While the grainy layer is gone, the digitally shot episodes do give it a more “cinematic” look. Hopefully that creates some positives coming into final season. Especially the explosive moments.

Probably because there's no good way to explain it, so they're sticking with leaving it a mystery and you can draw your own conclusions. In-world no one knows either so it makes sense in a way.

The Season 1 finale kinda touched on it. While the group were holed up at the CDC, one of the scientists (played by Noah Emmerich) played a video. Something to do with brain activity firing up again shortly after death occurs. I've always found this more fascinating than anything else in the entire series.

Totally agree. Just can't understand anyone applauding a more cheap "clean" look while ignoring the fact that tons of detail is gone.

I hate even watching the show streaming because of how much worse it looks than the bluray.

Anytime there is another release I get pumped at seeing great quality again..

Has anyone else had any issues with Season 10's 7.1 audio mix on their systems?

The bonus episodes have the centre channel mixed so quiet that you can't hear what's being said. The surrounds are fine. Other seasons and films play perfectly, so it's just TWD Season 10. Anyone else out there had this issue?

I tested the 2.0 mix and that plays fine with my amp converting to pro-logic.

I should also mention that I am watching the Australian release of the BD.

Was just about to say that you can barely hear anything from the cemter channel... Had to crank it up +12 db to get it on decent level.

It was even worse since finnish subtitles didnt work and somereason the find me episode had swedish subs on the finnish option :/
