Default Italian Post-Apocalyptic Action Adventure that contaminated the 80s

Here is an atomic thread (pun intended) on an action adventure sub-genre that no film buff or movie collector dares to discuss

What defines the Italian post-apocalyptic action adventure of the ‘80s?
1. Produced in Italy between 1981 (after Escape from New York and Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, of course) and 1989.
2. Set in a post-nuke dystopian world
3. Played by B-list Italian / American actors and actresses
4. Directed by an Italian
5. Low budget B-movie

Great thread idea! This is one of my favorite genres for sure. Really looking forward to getting those Severin titles next week. Could the definition be expanded to include stuff like Robowar and Shocking Dark?

So how would Severin's three new releases for this weekend (Warriors of the Year 2072, Endgame, Raiders of Atlantis) rank among the genre? I've never seen any of them. I usually wait for Severin releases to be eligible for a 50% sale, but the "Marauders Bundle" is tempting.

It's amazing how influential The Warriors, the Mad Max universe (in particular, The Road Warrior) and Escape from New York were to Italy's cinematic output.

I'd say that these movies are aimed at audience who have a high tolerance for cheesy '80s Italian actioner.
If you have seen 1990 the Bronx Warriors, Escape from the Bronx or The New Barbarians, and liked it, you'll probably like the other cheese.

The three are, well, not quite what you'd expect
If it's over-the-top action adventure that you're looking for, go with Raiders of Atlantis and Endgame.

Warriors of the Year 2072 feels like
[Show spoiler]a low-tier Rollerball (1975)
.

So we are missing about 6 of these titles on Blu-ray. Hopefully Severin or someone gets the rest of them out on Blu-ray.

Hands of Steel and Shocking Dark don’t feel like they belong to this genre to me personally..fun movies though! Excited that most of the heavy hitters have a blu. Missing a few more minor ones, hopefully the mighty Severin can put the rest out.
