United Kingdom Annika (based on the radio series Annika Stranded)

Starting on Alibi next Tuesday night is a new (sort-of) detective drama series starring Nicola Walker, called Annika (based on the radio series Annika Stranded (which also starred Walker). On and off for a few months, I've been reading about this new series. Hoping it will be good, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 'i' newspaper (if they do a review of the first episode) give a negative three-star (or less) review, as ever since Alibi have been making their own series (like Traces) they've been going out of their way to post a negative review (which they're entitled to do. But it gets a bit repetitive). They've been doing the same with the drama series Channel Five have been making (some of them have been quite good).

Avoided reading the television review section of today's 'i' newspaper, as I didn't want to be put off from watching the rest of the series, in case they gave a three-stars or less review of last night's first episode. The parts where Nicola Walker's lead character breaks the fourth wall, is going to irritate some people and put them off from watching any more of the series. I found the 'breaking the fourth wall' parts interesting and a breath of fresh air. The detectives' case kept your interest, and on the whole I enjoyed the first episode.

Thought last night's second episode of Annika was probably better than the opening episode. I doubt it will happen, but I hope it gets an eventual Blu-ray release.

United Kingdom Annika: Series 1 on BBC One

The first series of Annika is being shown on BBC One from this coming Saturday night (20th May) at 9.15 pm - 10.05 pm (previously shown on Alibi, it's also been shown on Drama).

I read this in either (or both) TV & Satellite Week or Inside Soap, that a second series is on the way later this year. I quite liked the first series, but I know that the story device of
[Show spoiler]Nicola Walker's character talking to the viewer will put some people off.

Source of the TV listings information above: Sky TV listings and TV & Satellite Week (Saturday 20th to Friday 26th May, 2023).

Thanks for the reply. Have added to my previous post that the first series of Annika has been shown on another UK TV channel (as well as Alibi), Drama.

I know it's had a DVD release in the States, but I'm unsure if Annika's first series has had a DVD release in the UK (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks for replying to my query (I thought the first series of Annika hasn't had a physical media release in the UK, but thought it best to ask), but it didn't appear in the 'Most recent forum activity' section as like your previous post you didn't click on Quote.
