I'm hopeful for more Disney-controlled films to be made available in great editions from overseas labels.

I don't import video releases, and the extras on the UK edition don't excite me that much. I just wonder if Disney will match the video quality. Already ordered their edition.

I'm another one that picked up the import a few years ago for the special features, but I'm glad to see Disney is finally getting around to releasing it themselves for those that don't like to import. I'm still hoping one of these Halloweens we get a Boogety two-pack so I can finally retire the DVD (which was the reason I subscribed to the DMC in the first place).

Never imported this, so just placed an order for this one. This was an big film of my childhood, so it will be fun to revisit and share the experience with my daughter.

Yeah, Disney is late on this one. I loved the movie growing up and bought the original UK Second Sight release. Then I upgraded to the remastered limited edition they released a couple of years ago. It’s a beautiful package and stacked with features.

I'm more than pleased with the Second Sight limited edition, but I'm glad those who missed out on that at the time will have a chance to get this one.

Picked up a copy for me and one for my friend. The buy 1 get 60% off at least knocks a few bucks off if you split the cost.

Damn, this is the first I heard of any limited edition. Wish I'd known about that when it was available. I would be very curious to see those bonus features. Sounds like it had a big making-of booklet, too, which wouldn't be included in the standard release. I might have to get the standard version.

Not touching this barebones, overpriced release with a ten foot pole, though!

The Limited Edition release from Second Sight is fantastic, both in packaging and picture quality. The new 4K scan was great. Hopefully Disney at least makes use of that scan, or this release has nothing at all going for it.

noticing the Second Sight release is listed as region-free. can anyone confirm if that is true? don't need the limited edition packaging but i'm a sucker for extras & i loved this movie growing up so considering a purchase direct from the retailer.

also, are there any other stellar Second Sight releases that i ought to check out? thanks!

update: ordered from Second Sight directly & paired w/ Xtro for a family friendly/unfriendly sci-fi double feature. i was a horror hound when i was a kid (still am, really) & remember renting Xtro only to have it immediately turned off & returned by my mom during a certain scene. looking forward to revisiting that one...

If all you want is the movie and extras, that's not OOP or expensive (a little under $30 from various Amazon.com 3rd parties.

Disney is a bit late on this one and I highly doubt they'd be using the 4k master. Second Sight's lovely remastered Blu was their own 4k scan and they worked with the international rights holder (Viking Film) rather than Disney.
