Media Blasters announced on Twitter they’re bringing Doomed Megalopolis to blu-ray. I’ve been waiting for this one!

I've heard good things about this, but never watched. Looks like it's coming in the start of November.

After Discotek put out Genocyber early this year, Doomed Megalopolis was one of the last infamous 90s anime missing from my collection that has been long OOP. I’m happy to finally be able to own it.

That's cool. For me it's Golgo 13: Queen Bee. Once I have that on Blu-ray, my anime collection will feel much more complete.

I remember seeing the poster in the Heavy metal magazine in the nineties and thought it looked awesome. I hope the video quality is good.

I do see that it might have been cut. 175 minutes now 135 minutes? why the time difference. I first saw it in full on an old Satellite channel called Network 1 in the mid 90's eventually getting the 2 dvd set after the first controversial set was release without the Japanese track smh.. Still why cut 40 minutes off it. Or does it actually include both seasons which I didn't know they were seasons...

Where you getting the 135 minutes? Are there any reviews for the disc, art on the back, etc?

I believe he’s getting this anime release (4x 40 minute OVAs) with the live action film of the same name that came out in 1988 as it’s listed as 135 minutes on Wikipedia.

I think he's getting it mixed up with the live action Tokusatsu film, which is a different adaptation altogether. It's 135 minutes long.

Whoever put up the details on Blu-ray.com probably got them mixed up, as on this site it's listed as 135 minutes, but as far as I know Media Blasters never mentioned that.

Hi guys, I can confirm that the release of the Doomed Megalopolis Omnibus Edition is not Region A locked.
It runs without any problems on my Region B UHD player.

As pointed out that time is incorrect. It's user submitted. I'm pretty sure they mixed it up with the live action film which has that runtime.
Amazon has the same time so I don't really know what's going on. It's wrong though.

I repeat - 135 minutes is what Right Stuf lists and is what's shown on the back of Media Blaster's mockup for the o-card.

It's likely wrong but they haven't addressed it yet.

I'm assuming that's some sort of error? I can't imagine them cutting out nearly an hour, especially if it's going to be two discs. I've never heard of this being cut before.

Soo since this is an OVA it's probably gonna be upscaled right?

It's possible, but I think Media Blasters said it wasn't. What does OVA have do with upscale? I know some have been, but others like Record of the Lodoss War, and the Fatal Fury ones were not.

Because a lot of these older OVAs were edited on tape. Nobody is gonna go back and re-edit them. It's not worth the trouble. Violence Jack, Angel Cop, Oedo 808, Genocyber, and probably more I can't think of all look like tape masters on BD or DVD.

Not all of them were edited on tape. If it actually wasn't worth it they'd likely not bother or advertise it as an SD-BD. I suppose we'll know soon enough.

That's why I said a lot. And SD-BD is expensive. Might not be worth it to MB to even bother. Who knows. I'm cautiously optimistic though.
