Youtube app problems - Blu-ray Forum

Recently I've been having problems with using Youtube on my PS3. It first started with autoplay taking a long time in between videos and then the video would start playing for a split second before the ads would start. Now it seems like when I press the PS button to end the Youtube app it causes my PS3 to crash and reboot or sometimes it will just get frozen by itself.

Has anyone else had this problem? I mostly use my PS3 for Youtube and CDs and haven't had any problems with the latter.

I tried the Amazon Prime video app for two days without any problems, so I think it's just the Youtube app having problems and not a wi-fi or network problem.

Yeah, I've been having this issue too. IDK about ads cause I have YouTube premium, but everything else checks out. Especially the crashing. It's been doing that once or twice a night for a week or two now.

Nice to know it's not just me. I wonder if it means Sony is going to drop support for the Youtube app on the PS3 in the near future. That would be unfortunate.

Edit: Took a quick look at the PS3 Reddit and didn't see any mentions of this problem. Maybe I'll try posting about this there and see if I get any responses.

I hope they don;t stop Youtube on the ps3, I have an extra PS3 purely as a means of getting Youtube on my old 4:3 crt-tv.
I've noticed for some time that I get occasional 'flashes' on screen on PS3 Youtube, it's been doing it for ages. I was hoping for a fix, but wouldn't be expecting them to really care about it unfortunately,

Oh, you get "flashes" too, huh? I hope they fix the app as it's semi-broken.

I thought there was something wrong with my PS3 (despite running smoothly and quite), because whenever I tried booting the YT app it'd restart the console.

Solution? Check the video below.

Since I got YT working on my PS3 I've been using PS3 a lot more to watch YouTube than gaming. Plus, you can cast to it do that's cool.

I tried using it a few days ago and it worked normally. Have used it a couple of times since then so fingers crossed that it won't crash anymore.
