Interesting. The first movie was beautiful to look at, very nice looking animation with very good 3D. Sadly the movie was terrible. I’d give the second one a shot because of the animation quality of the first. Hopefully they found someone else to write this one

After seeing the trailer it's clear that this is your typical kids film, but yeah, this looks beautiful and made for 3D, so a strong 3D presentation would be awesome.

This movie was made for 3D with love. I'm happy that there will be a 3D Blu-ray

Thank you very much Mack Media !

So is the first film really that bad as a film? Does anyone here have a favorable opinion? I’m really curious about it, especially if the 3D is strong. And has anyone seen the sequel yet? Thoughts?

EDIT: the reviews online seem to be universally scathing, and the few reviews I’ve found of the sequel are likewise scathing. Here’s one:

https://culturemixonline.com/review-...-jason-isaacs/

From this review it does sound like a total train wreck. But the animation in the trailer does look spectacular, dammit.

Despite the bad reviews of the first movie, we really enjoyed it. The mostly great 3D alone was definitely worth the purchase. My Blu-Ray.com watch count is now at 4
Already pre-ordered 2 copies of Happy Family 2 from JPC.

It looks like you'll have to get a used copy, but let's keep the focus of this thread on Happy Family 2

The first film has its own thread here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=303234

Now #29 in the "Blu-ray preorder charts" at "JPC.de"

The first "Happy Family" movie was released on a 3D discs & a separate only flat 1080p disc.

Wrote "Mack Media" a while ago suggesting them that they could release it like Constantin Film with "Monster Hunter" as a 2D/3D playable disc with a mention on the cover.

Seems this wonderful company behind one of the world`s greatest theme parks "Europa Park" heard my words

As usual, Amazon.de are blocking pre-orders to the UK, so this will be showing as "temporarily unavailable" for the next four or five months.

Now that the release date is less than a week away Amazon's discriminatory restrictions have been lifted and this is now orderable to the UK.

I watched the DVD and the story was even worse than the first one. I will, obviously, be pre-ordering the 3D version anyway. ...And wishing Playthek still had the first in 3D, haha.

Germany No activity. Where's the love?

I tried watching the movie twice but things kept interrupting me so it was watched in the background. I noticed the 3D was generally medium, but there were dozens of great 3D money shots with objects/people falling and heading straight towards the screen, etc...

During the second viewing, my sons watched and gave the movie a sideways thumb (said the first movie was better), but they gave the 3D two thumbs up.

I'm puzzled as to why this thread is so quiet. There's not that much new product coming out (this, Boss Baby 2, Dune, Jumanji, the 3D Film Archive titles, a couple Marvel...) I thought there was a lot of anticipation for this title.

There's not even the usual shipping rants (can't wait for mine to arrive, waiting to ship, just shipped, where's my damn shipment, delayed at customs, post office sucks, jpc sucks, this is totally inexcusable). Are people on their medication? I kid, I kid:

Guess people are still waiting for their copies...

I have had mine a while but haven't watched it yet. Like you, I have a lot of interruptions to deal with so while I am happy to pause a 2D movie I like to wait until I have a clear few hours free before watching a 3D movie. How's the dubbing? I recall that the first one was very obviously synced to the German audio.
