Germany BLACK CHRISTMAS (2006) Theatrical / R-Rated / Unrated (Nameless Media)

(Rough translation from Nameless Facebook):
Quote:
UNRATED version - Worldwide first BD-HD evaluation
Black Christmas (2006) - NO REPACK!
Hello, today there is a couple of beautiful news for you and there is also a lot of beautiful things to see, especially the first MB of our cool horror strip "BLACK CHRISTMAS" from the year 2006.
This film was published in 3 different Cuts. We have a business for all cuts, complete in German, in a MB collection.
It is the film and the version (identical to the English version), the R-Rated version (the standard Home Release of Concorde on a 25GB disc) and the Unrated Cut (not published in Germany, but only in the USA).
All versions are completely available in German and HD and are not handled by a spindle software (in the case of R-rated versions, all other parts are not even up to date). The cinema and the Unrated version are extra, for example, new in HD, so that these are not yet available in this version.
We offer you very much, we also have a wish for MB with all 3 cuts of the canvas.
More information about Extras, Tonspuren, VÖ etc. follow the day.
We also have a nice evening, STAY TUNED and stay healthy!
Eurer Nameless Media Team

All 3 cuts in HD sounds nice. Might be the right time to pick this one up and give it a 2nd chance. Didn't like the movie when it was released.

While it’s leagues below the outstanding 1974 original, the 2006 film is awesome and loads of scary fun, especially when compared to Woke Christmas (2019).

Is there a big difference between the theatrical and the R rated cut?
Would've been great if they could also release the director's cut.

In the US, the [R] cut is the theatrical cut. The Unrated cut, which was only released on DVD and HD DVD, is a couple of minutes longer, if I remember correctly.

I had heard that another cut of the film was released overseas which features different death scenes for some of the characters. I would love to see that.

I assume this will also include English soundtrack. If yes, count me in. This is one of the few contemporary remakes I've really enjoyed, generally speaking.

I see. I'm reading the announcement again and it seems the "R Rated" is the version they released on home video there. Hopefully there are some alternate death scenes, but if that was the case I think there would be something about this cut on Movie Censorship.

The original Black Christmas is a classic, and (similar to what someone else has said) while this first remake isn't as good, it's a masterpiece compared to the second remake from two years ago. I watched this first remake for a second time on physical media (last year or the year before) and enjoyed it more than the first time (when I saw it on original release at the cinema). Liked the X-Files/Millennium connections (some of the cast and crew who worked on those two series).

There is one more Death Scene in the Unrated:

We need something like this in the US. If an equivalent doesn't come out soon, I might nab this if it's region free and English friendly.

I wasn't a big fan of this movie when first watched it on DVD, but I've always been interested in seeing the alternate cuts.

I hope this includes all the special features from the DVD. The making of doc is great. It does a great job of charting the production with a lot of interviews and BTS footage. It's one of those warts and all things that isn't afraid to be honest. I remember the director admitted he doesn't like horror movies and hates gore. IIRC he also openly worried how the movie may impact his career. Last I checked he never made another movie. Even if you hated the film I highly recommend getting it on disc just for the bonus features. Fascinating stuff, and a little sad.

I think Glen Morgan's original vision was definitely more in tone with the original with the violence being more subtle, but the Weinsteins demanded lots of reshoots that added gore, changed the ending and then in post production messed with the editing, changing the order of scenes.

I guess this isn't going to be released in time for Christmas. Still no release date, no preorders, and Christmas is less than four weeks away.

There was also footage shot that was intended for the trailers and TV spots only and was not included in the [R] rated theatrical cut or the Unrated cut. Some of that footage included Lacey Chabert's character, Dana, being entangled in Christmas lights that are being sucked into some machine.

Quote:
After the production in Vancouver concluded, Bob and Harvey Weinstein oversaw the shooting of additional footage in Los Angeles intended only for promotional materials. According to Morgan, he was contacted by the Weinsteins, who wanted to "pick up some shots for TV spots", to which he agreed. Among the footage shot was Lacey Chabert being dragged through the snow; footage of a woman falling from the roof, where there is a "weird lawnmower electric [Christmas] light thing"; an unidentified woman (played by Jillian Murray) discovering a woman floating beneath a frozen lake; Michelle Trachtenberg aiming a shotgun and saying "Merry Christmas, mother****er" into the camera; and additional shots of Trachtenberg in a hallway holding a shotgun while Billy levitates above her on the ceiling. This footage, which was never incorporated into the film, did appear in the official theatrical trailer as well as television spots.

Yeah, that’s what worries me, with only 500 copies of each being produced. Hopefully the scalpers stay away from them. Now that Cover C has been revealed, I can say I don’t want that one either. Still just A and D. I kind of hope I won’t want Cover E too. I imagine these will go for at least $40 each.
