The writing is on the wall. Blu-ray is the clear winner everywhere on earth. There is no way HD DVD can recover. It has been losing support everyday since the WB's announcement.
A classy way for Toshiba, Paramount and Universal to end this ordeal would be to use the Superbowl ad to announce to the world that they are ending the format war and will embrace Blu-ray as the only HD format. This would give Blu-ray a tremendous boost against DVDs. In the same AD, they could offer an alternatives to existing HD DVD supporters to migrate to Blu-ray. I know the chances of that happening are nil but such a graceful gesture would put back Toshiba, Paramount and universal in the good grace of the customers. ![]() |
