hi i was wondering if anyone who imports to the uk from might be able to help me.

how exactly does the 18 import duty limit work.

is the limit per item or total purchases?

i had 3 blu's arrive today in seperate packages that clearly had item name and price on them and it exceded 18 yet no charge, yet when i got 3 in one packet with 3x dvd @$20 each stated on packet(all below limit) i got a charge.

what are the actual rules?

Very often it is just down to luck. Sometimes you get charged, other times they seem to let it slide. They are a lot stricter now than they used to be...although my knowledge is in the import of drugs rather than BD's.

Your best bet is to befriend somebody who works in customs.
