Happy New Year everyone! And to kick of 2022 some very exciting news on THE HITCHER! We've tracked down the negative!! Thanks to Warner’s archive team for allowing us access, we will be doing a full restoration for 4K/Blu-ray release later this year.

Ok, so Warner found the OCN... I certainly hope The Hitcher can finally get an American release, now. You can't tell me other U.S. labels haven't been trying to get their hands on this... So WB, what's up?

I dunno, but that would be swell. Personally, I'd rather they license it out to a label that will do more justice to the film. Second Sight is gonna deck their release out, you think WB would do the same?

Nah, WB are allergic to providing new extras for their catalogue titles. That ship sailed a while ago.

It's an HBO film technically so it's been part of their respective archive, and Warners proper had little idea it was such a cult film. Second Sight have been negotiating with them for months trying to get access to the negative, hence the more recent hints that Warners were stepping up their interest in the movie. But SS will get first dibs and once they're done will deliver the 4K master to Warners, who will presumably do their own release at some point.
