Syfy has handed a 12-episode straight-to-series order to The Ark, from Independence Day writer-producer Dean Devlin and his Electric Entertainment. Stargate SG-1 writer-producer Jonathan Glassner will serve as co-showrunner and executive produce alongside Devlin. The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life. With more than a year left to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies and loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive. |

Watched the first episode. Without a doubt one of the worst things I've seen in years.
I thought SyFy had upped their game a lot in recent years with stuff like Resident Alien & Reginald the Vampire, but this was on par with their 'original film' output with wall-to-wall irritating & stupid characters, played by what I can only assume to be a cast of first-time actors, using sets & props that early 80s Doctor Who would be ashamed of. Honestly, it looks & feels like it was made 20 years ago & someone found it in a dusty cupboard & decided something had to fill that gap in the schedules. Rubbish! ![]() |

I switched off after 20-30 mins in, the whole thing looks like something out of the early 90's and horribly cheap with a cast straight out of an Australian soap.

Original home of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, original home of The Expanse. So not batting .000, but they do seem to have only one or two good shows per decade...

Happy! was one of those amazing shows...that Syfy barely promoted and caused low ratings for season 2 and got cancelled thereafter....and the channel has never been the same since (at least to me).
I can't comment on The Ark though because I haven't tune into the Syfy as response and protest for cancelling Happy!. And FYI, I'm still fighting to save it with no signs of stopping and yes; Chris Meloni is still on board to do more, ALL of the cast/crew are. #SaveHappy |

I forced myself to watch all of episode 1, and it was a chore. I couldn't get past part way into the 2nd episode when they were deciding on......what fertilizer to use.
But everything else everyone else has said is also completely true. This show is horrible. |

I agree the first episode was not strong, but I stuck with it. The show significantly improves by the third episode and becomes something like Stargate Universe mixed with Defying Gravity. Not outstanding, and a couple of the characters are annoying, but I'm enjoying it.

Watching Season 2, so far first couple of episodes are pretty good. Nice to see a show with no graphic nudity or over use of curse words.

While this looks and does start of quite bad I was hooked after a couple of episodes. Might not have the biggest budget but man that make up for it with plot that's interesting to watch.
Also really has the Star Trek ethos of positivity even when doing so greatly diminishes chances of survival. |

I'm halfway through season two, I have a tolerance for low-budget shows and started watching this because it had some of the same cast as The Outpost, another show of this level, both filmed in Serbia (for budget reasons?)
Season two seems to have expanded the cast, and I have to say the budget for the VFX has increased, or someone more competent is now doing them. The story is getting a bit more coherent, and the acting is improved with some of the new additions. It's not going to challenge something like Foundation, but for an incredibly low-budget sci-fi show, it's ok for what it is. One thing has Alesha's voice changed? She seems to screech every time she has some dialogue, never noticed in season one, but it's really noticeable in season two. |
