Default Drive-Away Dolls (2024)

Coen wrote the script with his wife, Tricia Cooke.
Quote:
After his brother Joel Coen went out on his own to direct a movie, last year’s Oscar-nominated The Tragedy of Macbeth, Ethan Coen is also planning a solo trip.

Ethan Coen, half of the acclaimed sibling partnership known simply as the Coen brothers, has teamed up with Focus Features and Working Title for the feature project, which is currently untitled.

Coen will direct the film, which is eyeing a shoot this summer, and wrote the script with his wife, Tricia Cooke. The two are also producing with Robert Graf and Working Title principals Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

Focus and Working Title are keeping mum on the project, but sources indicate that the untitled feature is a lesbian road trip project that Coen and Cooke initially wrote in the mid-2000s.

This will either be an amazing instant classic or weird and forgettable.

Either way I'll watch it.

I thought the whole reason for Joel doing Macbeth alone was because Ethan was taking a step back from making movies?

Maybe Ethan was just taking a step back from Joel.

Eh, I think Quentin Tarantino was right about how some filmmakers keep working too long and past a certain point their projects become of lesser quality and like-wise get less excited about them.

Spielberg is an example. 20 years ago I'd be seeing his new movie on day 1 at the theatres but now I don't really care that much about what he does anymore.

Tarantino should have taken his own advice and retired after Pulp Fiction.

Jackie Brown was the best film he ever made.

When Joel was making the rounds for Macbeth, he said Ethan was not interested in the Macbeth project at all. He’s just not interested in Macbeth. The Ethan solo movie is new though. It was said he was going to work on a play. It’s going to be SO strange that there will both a Joel Coen stand alone movie and an Ethan Coen stand alone movie out there in the universe after 35 years of strictly collaborating with each other. It would be like if The Scott Brothers directed a film together 10 years ago.

Don’t you have a Christopher Nolan thread to be trolling right now?

Nolan should have taken Tarantino's advice and retired after Memento.

Nah dude. I’m not even a Nolan disciple but Prestige is very much superior to Memento.

But anyhow… Ethan Coen……

Tenet was one of the best films of the last five years.

That says more about the quality of films in the last 5 years than it does Tenet being good.

I'll take your "Tenet" and raise you "Dunkirk"

I didn't realize the narrative in "Dunkirk" was non-linear until the 2nd viewing.
