Warner Bros. released the first season of Álex de la Iglesia's 30 monedas (30 Coins) (2020-) on 20 April 2022.

BDInfo scan:

The disc configuration is 2xBD-50 and 1xBD-25, with all eight episodes (approximately 578 minutes) on the BD-50 discs and extras on the BD-25 disc. Most importantly, the Blu-ray cover is incorrect in that it says the audio is lossy Dolby Digital. In fact, the main audio is Spanish: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) for all episodes. The Dolby Digital tracks are additional audio options for the episodes: Spanish 2.0 and an English dub in 5.1 and 2.0.

So far, the series contains a significant amount of non-Spanish dialogue in its original audio, mainly in Italian. In sampling the English dub, this dialogue has also been dubbed into English.

Subtitles are: Spanish for non-Spanish dialogue, English for the English dubbed audio, Spanish (non-HoH) and English subtitles. All subtitling is in a thin, white font.

Unfortunately, none of the extras have English subtitles.

Note: This episode is about 15 minutes longer than the next longest episode. Most episodes are 1-2 minutes longer or shorter than an hour. The other episodes have bitrate at about 17 or 18 Mbps.

I finished the first four episodes tonight and I think the series is very good so far. I was a little worried in the first couple of episodes that it was going to be standard monster horror fare, but since then, the series has really upped the mystery angle and gotten far more intriguing as a result. The acting is excellent, but Eduard Fernández is fantastic, delivering a standout performance as Father Vergara.

As you can see from the scan, the video bitrate is on the low side. I don't really know why there are four audio tracks here. The 2.0 tracks are totally unnecessary and can be dropped (honestly, so can the dub, but if they've produced it, they might as well include it, I suppose), but more importantly, if a third disc was going to be used anyway, why not up it to a BD-50, move the last two episodes onto it (only 18 GB is used for the extras), and put three episodes each on the other discs? This way, you can maximize the available space. As it stands, banding is in evidence and compression artifacts do emerge at times. I wasn't particularly bothered by these issues, but those with larger screens might be. The TrueHD track--mis-identified as lossy Dolby Digital on the back cover--is superb and I wish it was listed correctly so that enthusiasts would know that lossless audio is available.

The English subtitles are excellent so far, with only a handful of very minor grammatical errors.

So far, I am very happy with my purchase. I wish WB / HBO had encoded the discs a little better and smarter, but really, I'm just happy to have this on disc at all, with excellent English subtitles.

I don't remember much, although there were some compression artifacts, which is a fact of life when getting these releases from smaller local divisions (in this case, WHV Spain). I said at the time that the lossless track was excellent and the overall A/V presentation should be the best available. If you like the series, you should pick it up, if only to support more Spanish BD releases.

I will definitely be picking up the second season next month. The second season seems to be significantly shorter and still on two discs, so the A/V quality should be even better.
