Paramount Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture 6-Movie Collection 4K UHD (1979-1991)

Paramount will be releasing a 4K UHD collection of the Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection on September 6th. There will also be individual releases for all six films too.

Quote:
All six original STAR TREK big-screen adventures come to 4K UHD in one must-have collection. Starring the original series cast, including William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and James Doohan, all have been remastered with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision for optimum picture quality from their original film elements. This new collection includes STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE—THE DIRECTOR’S EDITION, in addition to the original theatrical cut, as well as the Director’s Cut of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY. Packed with hours of special features, it is an essential STAR TREK collection for fans and beyond!

Quote:
Director Robert Wise’s definitive vision, eagerly anticipated by STAR TREK fans for over two decades, has been meticulously restored and remastered for optimal picture and sound. This must-have, limited collector’s edition—THE COMPLETE ADVENTURE—exclusively contains the “Special Longer Version” of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, alongside the original 1979 theatrical cut, in 4K UHD in deluxe packaging with unique collectibles. Additionally, a bonus disc has been included with hours of new and legacy special features, including extensive behind the scenes footage, never-before-scenes deleted scenes, and more. The adventure begins when an unidentified alien intruder destroys three powerful Klingon cruisers. Captain James T. Kirk boldly returns to the helm of a newly transformed U.S.S. Enterprise to take command. This bold adventure launched one of the longest running movie franchises of all time and features the cast of the original STAR TREK series, including William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and James Doohan.

I'm glad I waited then. I had the four collection in my hand and reluctantly put it back. I knew Paramount was planning this double dip shit.

Release date is Jan 2025, plenty of time for Shatner to rework Star Trek V.

Never cared for V. Might just pick up TUC as a solo. Same if they released a solo First Contact eventually.

I don't hate V, but damn if that Kirk, Spock, and Bones comradery doesn't make for a tolerable film.

"Whiskey Spock. Tennessee Whiskey."

"I appear to have overshot our mark."

"Nobody's perfect."

"You don't just ask the almighty for his ID."

This is super scummy. What was the point of the first set then? Yes, we knew there'd be more, but it makes no logistical sense. Why was the first set only 4 movies if you were just gonna do a 1-6 set? I'm glad the others will be separate, but it just makes no sense.

Will this include both versions of TMP though? Or just the Director's edition?

I'm better Theatrical, so they can maintain the double dip.

So I'm doubting they are going to put in the directors cut of TMP. Khan should be the same disc as now.

6 really is an open question. Ideally, I'd like to see it on 2 discs due to the different aspect ratios.

As this'll shirley have the DE of TMP then it's not as ultra-scummy as it seems, yes it means buying 2-4 again but the DE of 1 plus 5 and 6 will be new to disc.

I just wonder how I'm gonna work it, given the BD/UHD combos that I made of 1-4. If they release 1/5/6 on UK UHD with slips in the same styles as the BDs then that's fine.

I’m glad they’re dropping V & VI singles and announced them ahead of time, but I will set phasers to kill if they offer exclusives to the 1-6 collection. Don’t try me Paramount!

Pretty shitty to sell a boxed set with the first four, then drop this a year later.

I plunked down to buy the 1-4 set to support the release. I have no problem buying the individual releases of TMP-DE, V and VI to complete the series.

The boxed set of 1-6 would have to have some pretty amazing exclusive extra(s) to make me plunk down for that set as the 1-4 set will probably be pretty much unsellable at that point (if it isn't already) so no way to offset the cost of the new set that way.
