I'm loving this trend of Paramount releasing UHDs with OG artwork. The Ten Commandments, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Friday the 13th, Fatal Attraction and now the Star Trek movies. I just wish they were a little more consistent with it lol.

The day that I double dip on the first four films is the same day that whales wind up in space.

I bought the 4 film set used and in perfect shape for around $20…just to get II. So I popped this one in just to have a look….my oh my what a horrible movie, only thing worse is the quality of the production. I fondly remember this one striking a chord with even the non Trek public. I enjoyed it at the time. I cannot get over that horrible scene with the matte painting of the ship on Vulcan. Yikes. My only fondness left is for the SFO scenes downtown, what a great place that once was. I actually saw them filming a scene there.

Not sure you should be coming into a Star Trek thread stating Star Trek IV is a horrible movie. Have you seen Star Trek V?

Agreed. They only got worse. I would not even consider a purchase of any of them other than II. I do have some curiosity about the director’s cut of Wise’s movie…but that was a disappointment from day one. Don’t see SFX improvements fixing a really bad plot line…like I have said..written on the back of a napkin after a few drinks.

To be fair, Fatal Attraction isn’t really the original art…but at least it’s CLOSE.

$23.99 at Target. Not too bad. II, III and V are also up for pre-order. The 6-film collection will cost $119.99 at Target.

Which is a little bit strange considering they all apparently are coming out on the same day.
If you are talking about the artwork for Star Trek The Motion Picture at HDMovieSource , it is a temp artwork. They always do like that when the official artwork is not ready, and mark it clearly with Artwork TBA.

The Voyage Home is my second favorite film after Khan in fact I have to admit I probably like them both equally but Khan gets the slight nod for my favorite because it was such a huge bounce back from The Motion Picture. They let Kirk be Kirk!

But I'm always thankful The Motion Picture was made because without its success we wouldn't have seen the rest of the 5 films being made and while I'm not a fan, glad Shatner got his shot at directing a film [V].

Shatner is not well liked in real life by the crew but in my opinion his Kirk is the greatest Starship Captain...it's not even a contest.

In all of the Star Trek episodes and films this remains my all time favorite quote and scene:

KIRK: Engineering, this is the captain. I want full emergency power. I want everything within about two minutes. I want the warp drive engines on full standby. Kirk out. Open up a special channel to Starfleet Command. Code two.
UHURA: But, Captain, Code
KIRK: That's an order, Lieutenant. Code two.
UHURA: Yes, Captain. Code two.

My only problem with IV is that the characters act like complete dopes. Funny how people criticize Luke in regards to Ben and how "out of character" is it, but people that LIVE AND WORK in the SF area not knowing where anything is? That's just silly.

Oh, and the score is atrocious.
