Default Cosmic Fantasy Collection

There’s a Cosmic Fantasy Collection Makuake (crowd funding) campaign going in Japan at the moment. The series spans five games (plus a visual collection) that were released for PC-Engine CD, as well as a Mega-CD collection of the first two games. The project is already fully funded so there may be some stretch goals, it’s ¥5500 for the digital code during the campaign with an expected retail price of ¥6380 when it releases in December, 2022.

Produced by Edia, the same company that brought us two Valis collections, this collection will include the first two games in the series. One difference is there does not appear to be a physical copy, but there are some physical extras available. The series creator is involved.

No word on an international release but it would be cool if a company decides to take on that project. I think Cosmic Fantasy 2 is the only one that was released outside of Japan (Working Designs did the conversion for TG-16), who knows if the usual suspects are willing to translate several JRPGs and distribe it physically or digitally.

Before I clicked on your link I had thought Digital Eclipse had announced their next Collection. Stephen Frost has been teasing another Collection after the Cowabunga one comes out that's bigger in scope that has involved more research and was even more near and dear to the team with an announce trailer hopefully coming soon. I was thinking/hoping for an Ys Collection.

That being said this is awesome. Spent countless time with CF2 (and Dragon Slayer) cross legged with my cousin as a kid.

They are already funding a second collection and the first one hasn’t been announced for international players, guess translation/localization makes it risky. The new collection includes the PC Engine Super CD-ROM games Cosmic Fantasy 3, Cosmic Fantasy 4 Prelude, and Cosmic Fantasy 4, and met the funding goal in less than a day.

I really hope this series makes it out of Japan.
