Default BD-100's never play now in 2022 and beyond!?

I have an XBOX ONE S 2016 and an XBOX ONE X 2017 and I have noticed this.

List of 4K BD-100's that won't play, but they used too!

American Psycho Lionsgate 4K = BD-100
Fistful of Dollars Kino Lorber 4K = BD-100
Halloween 4K Lionsgate = BD-100
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers - 4K - Scream Factory = BD-100

All BD-25, 50, 66 still play fine, but they coded BD-100's to no longer play?

etc. What gives? What's going on with Microsoft and XBOX?

Why did they update their console and ruin it? Anyone heard anything? I see nothing on this subject anywhere?

Sounds like there’s something wrong with your consoles disc drives. I have the
One X and never had any issues with any Blu-ray’s specially the ones you mentioned

There is probably something wrong with the laser in your drive. The Xbox One's disc drive wasn't initially designed with three layer discs in mind as they were not a thing back then (at least not in pressed form.) It was simply updated in 2016 to read the three layer discs, and the Xbox Series X still uses this drive, whereas Sony had designed a new disc drive for the PlayStation 5.

Upgraded to a Series X (finally at our local Wal*Marts) and every disc (I tested everyone) is back to playing fine. I now think the One Xbox's 4K Disc Lasers do weaken somehow over time, dust+cigarette smoke etc. I was planning to use the One S and One X as 4K and down Disc playing devices, well everything BD-66 and down still works but BD-100s need the Series X. It's whatever. That's life.
