Default My Grandpa Is A Vampire (1992) coming from Severin Kids on October 25

Quote:
Al Lewis – beloved for his role as Grandpa in THE MUNSTERS television series – delivers “a particularly demented performance” (Scary Minds) as Vernon Cooger, frail old man by day and fanged flyer of the undead at night. But when his visiting grandson discovers Vernon’s dark secret, can they team up to take down a stake-making slimeball? Justin Gocke (GODZILLA 1985) and Noel Appleby (‘Everard Proudfoot’ in THE LORD OF THE RINGS) co-star in this “engagingly silly and anti-authority kids’ movie” (The Hollywood Reporter) – also known as MOONRISE and GRAMPIRE – directed by New Zealand horror pioneer David Blyth (DEATH WARMED UP) and written by Michael Heath (NEXT OF KIN), now scanned in 2K from the original negative under the director’s supervision and loaded with new & vintage Special Features.

Special Features:
  • Audio Commentary With Director David Blyth And Screenwriter Michael Heath
  • Grandpa Remembers Grandpa — Interview With Actor Daniel Roebuck
  • My Husband Was A Vampire — Interview With Karen Lewis

I'm down for this one. Cool to see them continuing the "Kids" line

Al Lewis was second only to Dick Clark in the "never seems to age" department. Dude looked virtually the same since his Munsters days right up until the end.

I'm not into this type of stuff but it looks like something I might like so count me in.

I used to watch this all the time as a kid. As an adult this is a hard watch. It's pretty awful.

I have had a similar experience with other movies where I was like "I can't wait to show this to my kids" and when you watch the film in 2024 it doesn't hold up.

I only watched it for the first time a few months ago, but I enjoyed it. I expected it to be cheesy/campy, so I wasn't disappointed in that regard. I loved the NZ setting, and I found Al Lewis to be pretty hilarious in the role. Sometimes it plays like an extended episode of Goosebumps, which I didn't mind.

Forgot all about this one, and missed that it got a Blu-ray release. Will have to give it a revisit.

I felt the same way about Mr. Boogedy when revisiting it a few years ago. It's not great cinema, but it's fun for what it is.
