Sometimes people do that. Just like buying physical media isn't stopping the biz from pushing digital and streaming, but people still buy it anyway.

The way I see it, studios took a hit at the theater due to the pandemic. So Paramount finally land a bonafide hit with Top Gun: Maverick and decide to take advantage of that and keep it in theaters longer. I think you'd probably do the same if you were them.

I've seen it 3 x in the theatre, and we plan on going again. So I can wait for the 4K and bluray. I'm buying them regardless when it ships. This movie is unprecedented, and I absolutely love it. Keep it in theatres, let the run continue and show Hollywood this is what we want. No preaching, just movie magic and a great story. And the legend which is Tom Cruise.

Preordered. By the way, is a little over 5 months from theatrical release to physical media really that long of a wait? I mean, obviously it is for some, but why? I used to think I was the most impatient guy in the room. Now, I realize I'm not even in the running.

I remember a time (back in the 90s early 2000s) it would be 6 months to a year after its theatrical release until a movie came out on DVD
